Green Drinks is an international network that began in England in 1989. Green Drinks has 670+ chapters in 65 countries, including 30 in Ontario. Ours is the first Green Drinks chapter in Sarnia-Lambton. Over a pint or a soft drink and some snacks, students, engineers, business owners, concerned citizens and curious folk discuss topics like genetically modified foods, the Alberta Oil Sands, greenin

g local industry, The disappearance of the Monarch Butterfly, and the plight of the honeybee. Green Drinks Sarnia is an opportunity for anyone interested in environmental issues to gather, socialize, network and learn in a casual atmosphere. Each month, a “discussion leader” leads a chosen topic of conversation. The subject is presented for 10-15 minutes, and then everyone is welcome to join in. The conversations are meant to be lighthearted and informal. After about one hour the discussion ends and people are welcome to share announcements and news updates, then stick around for networking and socializing. Green Drinks happens the second Wednesday of every month. Green Drinks is held at Limbo Lounge (back room), 196 Christina Street North. Green Drinks is free to attend and is open to all who are interested. The only condition of membership is to respect the opinions of all and provide space for everyone to participate, “because everyone should be able to have a good time“, says Monica Shepley, Former Executive Director of the Bluewater Sustainability Initiative. Green Drinks was an initiative of Bluewater Sustainability Initiative from it's inception in September of 2013 until they disbanded in June of 2014.
