👋 Back to school means it’s time to say goodbye to our summer students!

After a busy summer around Uptown, Maclean and Noah have wrapped up their time with our Clean Crew and are back in the classroom.

Thank you both for rolling up your sleeves and helping care for our Uptown streets all summer long. We appreciate everything you brought to the team and wish you a great school year ahead!

The Clean Crew isn’t finished for the season just yet! Chris will continue to be out and about, helping keep the Uptown Saint John BIA area tidy and welcoming. ❤️

Hello September! ☀️ Summer isn't finished with Uptown just yet.

❤️ Patios, cafés, and sunny (or foggy!) strolls are still calling.
❤️ Cruise season is picking up in the middle of a few double-ship days, bringing plenty of new faces to our streets.
❤️ Live music, art, performances, and community events are filling the calendar all month long.

September is a good month to keep those summer plans going while welcoming the first hints of fall.

👻 Forget ghosts. These two Vac Pacs have been hunting down litter all summer.

You may have spotted our Clean Crew wearing these around Uptown. Meet our new Vac Pacs!

These backpack-style vacuums help the crew tackle cigarette butts, leaves, small litter, and debris along our sidewalks and curbs. The Vac Pacs make it easier to move around the Uptown Saint John BIA area and reach spots larger equipment can’t.

Another tool helping our seasonal Clean Crew 3 person team take care of the little things that make a big difference across our 26 blocks, and keep Uptown looking its best! ❤️

This work is part of Uptown Saint John BIA’s initiatives, supporting our not-for-profit organization’s work throughout the Uptown community.

📣 New Uptown Neighbour - India Gate Bar & Grill is a new business member of the Uptown Saint John BIA!

Owners Ganesh Kommisetti, Gowtham Karavadi, and Nutan Kalyan Reddy Kanukula opened their Union Street restaurant in June, serving South Indian flavours, house-made dosa and biryani, fresh tandoori naan, and more.

Here are some action shots of our stellar Uptown Clean Crew! Chris is the lead and we've been lucky to have summer students, Maclean and Noah, with us this year.

Last week the USJ Clean Crew team were busy washing awnings, and also showing off their new ‘Clean Crew’ hats and t-shirts. The awnings look spiffy, and so do the guys!

We send a huge thank you to Cooper Equipment Rentals for the use of their lifts - something we utilize often. Cooper Equipment understands the importance of keeping our uptown looking vibrant. Our partnership with them is vital and truly appreciated.

We also send a big thanks to TD Station for supplying the water for this job.

Sasha Selby has created a cozy shop on Princess Street where you'll discover vintage treasures, local artwork, handcrafted goods, botanicals, and a little everyday magic. The back room is a welcoming gathering place for workshops, game nights, and more!

A big thank you to our community sponsor, Cooper Equipment Rentals for helping give our Clean Crew a lift, literally! 🙌

Our crew used Cooper’s equipment to bring more colour to Uptown streets this summer, with our placemaking projects installing 90+ banners, including 18 pieces of artwork created by students from schools and organizations in and around Saint John.

Cooper’s generous in-kind equipment support helps our Clean Crew tackle projects throughout the year across the 26-block Uptown Saint John BIA area. We’re grateful to have a community partner that helps us keep Uptown clean, safe, welcoming, and vibrant.
