We are delighted to share another publication highlighting the impact of our Community Social Pediatrics Clinic in Saint John.

Our study found that Community Social Pediatrics can help strengthen families by reducing parent-child conflict, improving communication, and improving access to care and support.

While improvements in behaviour were modest, positive progress was observed despite the added challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, when many community programs and extracurricular activities were substantially reduced or unavailable.

Check out the rest of the publication by copying the link below or heading to the link in our bio!

We want to extend a huge thank you to the community and partners who showed up to connect and learn more about our work!

We are also incredibly grateful to our staff members for the hard work they do for families in our community that make these wins worth celebrating!

The biggest thank you of all is to our families and children for the trust they have put in us, we cannot wait to see what the year ahead brings and are so excited to continue our work alongside all of you!

Today, on Truth and Reconciliation Day, we remember the children taken from their families and the lasting harm caused by residential schools. The intergenerational impacts of these injustices are still felt by Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island.

NB Social Pediatrics works with families from across what is widely known as Southern New Brunswick, on the traditional, unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik and Mi’kmaq Peoples. Under the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” of 1725, these lands remain under Indigenous sovereignty. These treaties call for mutual respect and the responsibility of settlers to honour Indigenous rights and stewardship.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child guides all of our work. We know these rights have too often been denied to Indigenous children and families. Our role is to disrupt colonial harms by embedding cultural safety, family connection, and wellbeing in our work, and by advocating for systems that uphold the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous children and families.
