Peterborough Area Fundraisers’ Network

Peterborough Area Fundraisers’ Network PAFN is a network of fundraising individuals who have a desire to share ideas, information, learn and keep up to date on what is happening in the sector.

In the mid 1990s a group of fundraisers in Peterborough got together to discuss issues related to CRA guidelines. What they realized during the discussion was that smaller charities, some working only with volunteers, were unable to keep up with all the legislated changes. This was a concern as it could lead to local charities violating CRA guidelines and possibly losing their charitable status. S

o the group decided that getting together on a formal basis would be advantageous for a number of reasons. In 1997 the Peterborough and Area Fundraisers’ Network (PAFN) was formally created with the passing of their By-Laws, and Code of Ethics and Professional Practices. The mission: Peterborough Area Fundraisers’ Network (PAFN) exists to strengthen professionalism within our local charitable sector including our members, interested individuals and organizations. PAFN is a member driven organization that elect an Executive each year at a September Annual General Meeting. Members pay a nominal yearly fee to belong to the organization. Professional development is the focus of most meetings although a certain amount of time at each meeting is spent reviewing reports of the various Executive positions. Networking is a key benefit to membership and occurs prior to and following most monthly meetings.

PAFN is at a turning point.

We are a fully volunteer-run organization, and right now we have several vacancies on our Executive. A small group of people is carrying an increasing share of the work, and that simply isn’t sustainable.

Serving on the PAFN Executive is an opportunity to support, shape, and strengthen our local fundraising community alongside peers who understand this work.

If you’re able, we invite you to step up: https://www.peterboroughareafundraisersnetwork.com/join-executive
