Community Housing Initiative Perth Community Housing Initiative Perth (CHIP) is a partnership of citizens and organizations building a transformative affordable housing project in Perth.

The 15-unit building at 63 Halton St will provide long awaited homes for families who need it most.

Now that the building envelope is fully enclosed, stepping inside gives you a real sense of the spaces we are creating. The framing is up, the rough-ins are moving right along, and you can officially stand in what will soon be bright, beautiful living rooms and kitchens for 15 local families.

Every stud, wire, and ray of sunshine in this space represents a fresh start and a foundation for a better life. Our crews from Saumure Construction are making incredible use of the ideal spring weather to power through this interior phase.

Over the last couple of weeks, our community has stepped up once again, bringing in a wonderful $5,025 in new donations toward our "Home Stretch" campaign! Every single dollar moves that progress bar a little bit closer to the finish line, and we are so grateful to everyone who has pitched in to help us bridge the final $144,975 gap.

Seeing that bar fill up isn't just about numbers; it represents future doors opening, keys being handed over, and 15 local families gaining a safe, comfortable and affordable place to call home this fall.

Building a community starts with being a good neighbour.

As we move into the interior phase at 63 Halton, we want to share a huge thank you to our neighbours. From the early days of chipping through tough bedrock to the busy arrival of the warmer weather, your patience has allowed this project to stay on track.

Because of that support, the building is now fully enclosed, and we are busy installing the insulation and heat pumps that will keep 15 local families warm and comfortable this winter.

Weโ€™re not just building apartments; weโ€™re building community.

This new online home is a celebration of what our community can achieve when we stand together. It is a collaboration of municipal leadership, non-profit expertise, grassroots advocacy, and local builders, all united by a singular purpose: creating safe and affordable homes for our neighbours.

We created this site to be a place of connection, a space to see the progress, feel the hope, and witness the power of community.
