The Parry Sound Lions Club was able to donate $600 to Camp Dorset and $1000 to Camp Huronda at a recent Cabinet Meeting.

Once again those in our region have shown just how generous they are.
Parry Sound Lions Club 🦁 would like to share that the donations at our two locations on Saturday, Sobeys and No Frills, will send $1000 to Camp Huronda- a Type 1 diabetic youth camp.
Well done Lions Rick, Bill, Shirley, Pam ,Aaron, John and volunteers Troy and Karoyln.

The Parry Sound Lions Club would like to thank Sobeys (Parry Sound) and No Frills for allowing us to set up at their store locations.
Their support of local service groups and our community are greatly appreciated.

🦁Saturday is Diabetes Tag Day.🦁
The Parry Sound Lions will be collecting donations at Sobeys and No Frills on Saturday

Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects people of all ages. It develops when the body does not produce or effectively use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood glucose levels in the body.

Diabetes can cause chronic hyperglycemia (high blood glucose). This can lead to serious complications that may affect the whole body such as:

-heart disease
-eye and kidney damage
-lower limb amputation
-adverse mental health outcomes

Some diabetes treatments can lead to hypoglycemia (low blood glucose).

There are three main types of diabetes: type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes.

Parry Sound Lions Club wish you a safe and enjoyable weekend.

We will be hosting BINGO for campers at Lake Joe CNIB on Wednesday this week.

On Saturday we will be out and about collecting for Diabetes Tag Day.

Diagnosed Diabetes: About 3.9 million people (9.7% of individuals aged 1 and older).
Type 1 Diabetes: About 300,000 Canadians (about 5% to 10% of total cases).
Type 2 Diabetes: Accounts for roughly 90% of all cases.
Prediabetes: Over 6% of adults live with prediabetes, putting them at higher risk for type 2 diabetes.

🦁It's Wear it Wednesday!🦁

Parry Sound Lions will be hosting bingo for campers at the CNIB on Wednesday, August 5th.

We will also be volunteering at the CNIB Lake Joe Live: Muskoka Kitchen Party on August 15th. All proceeds of this event will go to provide camp experiences for people with vision loss.
