Accessibility is more than physical spaces. It’s also about being understood.
The way we share information can make it easier or harder for someone to access support.

Clear language, captions, written information, visual supports, and taking time to explain something in a different way can help reduce communication barriers.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. What matters is listening to each person, understanding their needs, and making kind efforts to provide information and support in an accessible and supportive way.

At Hands, we’re committed to creating more welcoming and accessible experiences for the children, youth, adults and families we support.

L’accessibilité n’est pas seulement une question d’espaces physiques. C’est aussi une question de compréhension.
La façon dont nous communiquons l’information peut faciliter ou compliquer l’accès au soutien.

Un langage clair, le sous-titrage, des documents écrits, des supports visuels et le fait de prendre le temps d’expliquer autrement peuvent aider à réduire les obstacles à la communication.
Il n’existe pas d’approche universelle. Ce qui compte, c’est d’écouter chaque personne, de comprendre ses besoins et de déployer des efforts bienveillants pour offrir de l’information et du soutien de façon accessible et aidante.

What an incredible day of golf we had yesterday! ⛳️
It's more than a golf tournament.
Our community came together to help children, youth, families, and adults with developmental disabilities across Northern Ontario.
