“Duane Round Community Room”,
Wow, what a day we had! Thanks goes out to Carol Round and several of Duane Rounds family for attending the dedication of our largest gathering space at the Parksville Community Centre in his honour. The event was graced with about 80 of Duane’s friends, former colleagues, Lions and Rotary memberrs, City Councillors Gaur, Martin and Wood, ;;and PCC renters who spent time acknowledging the contribution he made to the Oceanside area community in his short time in this place. Throughout the day we were serenaded by several of Allison Shaws musical friends and colleagues as greeters, courtyard entertainers, meeting room background soothing sounds and a concert to close out the event by the Little Mountain Rattlers. The PCCS Board of Directors, volunteers and members were happy to host you all for this event and thank each of you sincerely for believing in the project Duane lovingly nurtured. From this day forward the space will be known as the “Duane Round Community Room”, and attached are some photos and videos commemorating our time together.
Of course, it’s difficult to attempt to thank all who made it happen, however allow me this attempt: Kitchen volunteers Brenda, Patricia, Barb, Phil, and Pat; Room prep and set-up, Buck the painter, Mike the carpenter, Oceanside Garage Floor Finishing, Castle Carpet and Floors, Cloverdale Paints, Irv for the set-up and tear down, and Ronnie for decorations, signage and clean-up; Food donations by Thrifty Foods and Save-On Foods. The Parksville Community Centre is truly blessed and honoured for the opportunity to serve as your Community Centre in Oceanside.
