August 8, 2026 Pop-up Recycling Depot Report
Brought to you by Parksville Community Centre Volunteers!
The August 8 Pop-up Recycling Depot ran under warm skies that needed the misters in order to keep the volunteers cool. Once again, the morning was busy with a slightly slower afternoon, and we’re all thankful for that as the volunteer crew in the afternoon is usually a little thinner. If you’re looking for an opportunity to help out, please select the afternoon as your work shift.
Here's what we experienced: John counted 625 vehicles bringing us 106 Super Sacks of stuff — no pizza this round, however the Centre volunteers outdid themselves with sandwiches and coffee that kept everyone well fed and stimulated.
The Girl Guides of Canada took this week off as they’re busy with other summer fun activities, and once they’re done with that we’ll welcome them back with open arms.
Thx, Albert

August 22, 2026 Pop-up Recycling Depot Report
Brought to you by Parksville Community Centre Volunteers!

Well, once again the Weather controllers managed a perfect day for us on August 22, which brought out the Oceanside residents with sacks, totes and boxes full of the goods they want to keep out of the landfill. As we finished the tear down of our work site I felt a couple of tiny rain drops, and although Don T made some repairs on the misting system, thankfully it wasn’t needed this time.

Vehicles/Walk-ins through the gate; 650
Super Sacks filled; 119

Once again the Girl Guide volunteers came out in force, for which we are eternally grateful, as are we hugely grateful for all the PCCS volunteers who support this vital activity. I also want to give a shout-out to Sue and Pat, the Kitchen volunteers who created the cooler full of sandwiches we all enjoyed.

Let’s remember that our next event will occur after a 3-week break in the schedule, on September 12, 2026 from 10AM until 3PM.

Thx, Albert

August 8and August 22
*Three week break;
