The Parksville Beach Festival just wrapped, sandcastles, fireworks over the water, live music under the stars.

Is anyone else watching the new Little House on the Prairie on Netflix? Did you catch the Founder's Day scene, where young Laura gives that speech?

No script, no prep, no idea she'd even be speaking. She stood up anyway and spoke from the heart, and the whole town felt it.

Most of us have had a moment like that somewhere. And then maybe talked ourselves out of it.

Arbutus Toastmasters, our local club right here in Parksville, offers a supportive and caring environment to grow your speaking skills, build your confidence, and become the leader you've always felt was in there.

Arbutus Toastmasters just achieved the Smedley Distinguished Club status!

That's all ten goals on the Distinguished Club Program scorecard, the highest mark a club can earn.

We're proud of it, but honestly, that's not really what we want to brag about. The award is just proof of something we already knew was happening every Monday night: people showing up for each other. Members working through nerves to give a speech. Newer folks finding their voice. People stepping into leadership roles they weren't sure they were ready for. That's the real win. The award just made it official.

If you've ever thought about getting better at public speaking, leading a team, thinking on your feet, or just want a room full of people who'll cheer you on while you figure it out, come see what we're about. Guests are always free and always welcome, no pressure, no obligation, just come watch a meeting and see if it's for you.
