Canadian companies are linked to the Rana Plaza building collapse, a preventable tragedy that killed over 1100 workers.

13 years later, Canada continues to fail impacted people. Our companies remain complicit in human rights abuses worldwide.

It is long past time for binding corporate accountability legislation.

Today, the UN Human Rights Committee "underscored its concern about allegations of human rights abuses and environmental harm linked to companies domiciled in Canada or operating under its jurisdiction".

The UNHRC called for legislation on mandatory human rights due diligence. It also recommended Canada "urgently" appoint a new Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE) and empower the CORE to independently investigate.
