A very important discussion and recommendations on investing in school age care.

Canada has invested heavily in the early years. The next question is whether it is prepared to support children and families with the same seriousness once school begins.Abstract:

Le manque d’espaces verts dans les communautés à faibles ressources prive certains enfants des nombreux bienfaits pour la santé associés au temps passé dans des milieux extérieurs naturels de qualité.

Starting children at a very young age to connect with the outdoors, engage with nature and learn to love it outside sets the foundation for life.

If we want cities where all children can thrive, we need to create conditions where play is part of daily life, not something that must be scheduled or purchased.

Today is , an important date in the timeline of at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
Jordan’s Principle is a child-first legal rule that ensures all First Nations children and young people can access the products, services, and supports they need, when they need them, in a manner free from discrimination and aligned with the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal’s orders.
In April 2016, the Tribunal gave the federal government until May 10, 2016, to fully implement Jordan’s Principle. Here we are, nine years later, and the Tribunal has had to issue more than 25 procedural and non-compliance orders against Canada for continuing its discrimination against 165,000 First Nations children in its provision of the First Nations Child and Family Services program and its failure to implement the full scope of Jordan’s Principle. In January 2025, the Tribunal issued yet another non-compliance order to Canada.
Bear Witness Day honours Jordan River Anderson and his family and is an opportunity to come together to “Bear Witness” to ensure Jordan’s Principle is fully implemented. 💙💛

Regulation is more than just having a basket of fidgets! Regulation happens in relationship, which means educators and caregivers have a valuable role to play in supporting children’s regulation each day, in how they interact with children and set up the learning environment. In this session, participants will define regulation and the factors that can influence it; identify how our relationships with children are a necessary part of regulation; and, investigate practices that can help support children’s regulation so they can play and learn. Facilitated by Gina Blan, Professional Learning Lead, Kids Included.
