Welcome to the LivingRoom! A safe place where you can express yourself & connect with others through experiences of free art making and dialogue!

The LivingRoom is a registered charity that provides people with opportunities to express themselves and connect with others through experiences of art making, skill sharing and dialogue at no cost. We believe that EVERYONE is an artist, and welcome people from all walks of life, including those who are most marginalized, to take part in creative processes that we believe to be inherently therapeutic and empowering. The LivingRoom Community Art Studio is a part of North Americas growing Art Hive movement. To learn more about this larger community we are a part of please visit www.arthives.org

We had a store front studio location in downtown Oshawa where people from all walks of life are welcome to drop by and make and share their art for free, but due to the pandemic, we are online only for the time being. On the bright side our community has expanded to welcome people from all over the world. We are also open to tabling at community events for organizations around Durham region - and love sharing what the studio project is about with others through talks and pop-up art studios. Check in with our page and Twitter - - to keep up-to-date on what's going on near you! And if your neighbourhood or organization is interested in hosting a LivingRoom pop-up event please let us know! The LivingRoom also wishes to recognize the financial support of The Ontario Trillium Foundation, the City of Oshawa, and donors like you for helping us bring more art to more members of the community for free!

Hey folx! Submissions are open for Volume 2 of Beyond Barriers - a community ‘Zine honouring the lived experiences of those living with visible and invisible disabilities. ✨❤️✨

Writers of all ages who identify as persons with disabilities or advocates for the disability community are invited to submit their written work of any style to be featured in our upcoming zine centred around the theme “the world we create”. The zine will be printed and distributed at the Ajax Public Library’s 2nd annual Beyond Barriers Art Show on December 2nd, 2026.

Submissions close on November 4th 2026.
Maximum length: 1500 characters.

It’s time to thank the Municipality of Clarington for a fabulous event this past weekend on the Marie Hubbard Trail! A little rain couldn’t dampen our celebration of nature and creative community as we made leaf prints and clothespin figurines to carry our worries away ✨❤️✨. We can’t wait to create and connect with you again soon!

Hey and students (and students of life) - Creative Wellness Art Hives are back! 🖌🎨🐝Need to de-stress, relax, and catch your breath? Join us for some free art making and community connection on the last Tuesday of every month from 11-3 PM, starting September 29th. ✨❤✨ To kick things off, the blue Art Bus will be on the North Campus of Tech University beside Polansky Commons, with more space for creative selfcare in the Library, while OTU Student Mental Health Peer Supports will be setting up ANOTHER Art Hive on the Downtown Campus (upstairs). 🫶 See you soon!
