Backdoor Mission Announces New Executive Director

Backdoor Mission is pleased to announce the appointment of Taylor Uden as our new Executive Director, effective July 6, 2026.

Taylor brings eight years of experience in the homelessness-serving sector and joins Backdoor Mission as a forward-thinking leader committed to serving her community, improving service delivery, and advocating for systemic change in social services. With a strong emphasis on dignity and person-centred care, Taylor is dedicated to strengthening Backdoor Mission's services and responding to the needs of individuals in our community through intentional, compassionate, and transparent leadership.

Prior to joining Backdoor Mission, Taylor worked within Durham Region's youth-serving sector, delivering high-fidelity Housing First for Youth programming, supporting transitional housing initiatives, and contributing to the Coordinated Access System. Through this work, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to housing stability, service innovation, and creating meaningful pathways to support vulnerable populations.

As she transitions into her new role, Taylor is excited to build upon the strong foundation established at Backdoor Mission. She looks forward to enhancing the organization's point-in-time services while prioritizing the critical need for sustainable housing solutions within our city.

The Board of Directors and staff of Backdoor Mission are excited to welcome Taylor to the organization and look forward to her leadership as we continue our mission of serving our community with dignity, compassion, and hope.

Please join us in welcoming Taylor Uden to Backdoor Mission.

🤝 Transforming Lives Through Collaboration
Alpha House Recovery Community is proud to be working alongside Hope Valley Addiction and Wellness Centre and The Back Door Mission to create meaningful pathways from homelessness to recovery, and from recovery to stable housing.
Together, we are helping individuals move beyond crisis by connecting them with safe shelter, addiction treatment, mental health support, and post treatment housing. This collaborative approach ensures that people are not only given the opportunity to recover, but are also supported in rebuilding their lives with dignity, purpose, and hope.
Every day, we witness the incredible resilience of those we serve. Through partnership, compassion, and a shared commitment to ending homelessness and addiction, we are creating lasting change in our communities.
Real people. Real recovery. Real housing. Real hope.
Thank you to our partners at Hope Valley Addiction and Wellness Centre and The Back Door Mission for standing with us in the belief that everyone deserves a chance to heal, recover, and thrive.

Hello Neighbours! 💙

We're asking you to consider something powerful: becoming a monthly donor to Back Door Mission.

Single donations matter—truly. But monthly giving? That's how we build something sustainable. That's how we know we can keep the lights on, stock the pantry, and provide safe spaces for our community members month after month.

When you commit to even $10, $25, or $50 a month, you're not just giving once. You're giving 12 times a year. You're saying, "I'm with you. I'm invested in this community."

Monthly donors become the backbone of our mission. They're the reason we can promise consistent care, reliable services, and a safe place to belong.

Ready to make a real difference? Set up your monthly donation today:

Every dollar compounds. Every month counts. Every supporter matters.

Hello Neighbours! 💙

Every day at Mission United, we're here to help people get back on their feet. Whether it's a warm meal, access to medical care, addiction counselling, or a safe place to rest—we're committed to meeting our community where they are.

From our food pantry to our showers, from mental health supports to housing assistance, we believe everyone deserves dignity and care. In 2023 alone, we had over 31,000 hub visits and provided support to thousands of people experiencing homelessness.

But we can't do this alone. We need volunteers, donors, and community members like you to help us continue this vital work.
