Midweek art therapy, anyone?
TBDII is still hanging strong at Sovereign House and looking ridiculously good. Colours popping, textures inviting, and four talented artists (Barbara Eadie, Adrienne Holbeche, Carol Sanders, Stefania Zanini) making the rooms feel alive.
Pop in today from 1–4. No pressure, just pure visual joy and a peaceful historic house to wander through.

Day two and the show is serving looks.
TBDII is in full swing — bold colours, unexpected textures, and that perfect “I should buy this before someone else does” energy. Barbara Eadie, Adrienne Holbeche, Carol Sanders and Stefania Zanini did not come to play.

It’s opening day and the walls are officially glowing!
TBDII just landed at Sovereign House and it’s pure colour, shape, and texture chaos (the good kind). Works by Barbara Eadie, Adrienne Holbeche, Carol Sanders and Stefania Zanini are ready for their close-up.
Come hang out with us today from 1–4. Wander the rooms, stare a little too long, and leave with that “I need this on my wall” feeling.

Last call, art lovers!

Today is the final day of our gorgeous “Visual Arts” group show at Sovereign House. Open 1–4 pm. Nearly twenty Oakville artists. Paintings, jewellery, fabric art, Chinese brush painting — the whole beautiful mix.

If you haven’t been yet, this is your moment. If you have been, come say goodbye (and maybe take one last favourite home).

Last Sunday of the show and the art is still showing off.

Come spend a sunny (or rainy — we don’t mind) afternoon surrounded by paintings, jewellery, fabric art, Chinese brush painting and more from almost twenty ridiculously talented Oakville artists.

Open 1–4 pm at Sovereign House. Bring the family, bring a friend, bring yourself. Just bring your eyes.

Art Sundays are more fun than regular Sundays.

In addition to her recent presentation about the Joyce family and Glendella Cottage for the Bronte Historical Society, Suzy Burtenshaw also brought in a box of “reward” or “prize” books for everyone to see.

In the late 1800s, Sunday schools, including Bronte Methodist Church (now known as Walton Memorial) handed out small reward books to children for good attendance, memorizing scripture, and good behaviour. Many were slim, cloth-bound volumes with moral tales, stories of missionaries, or tales of children who learned to be honest, kind, and obedient. A bookplate or inscription inside named the child, the school, and the date.

For many kids, these were among the very first books they ever owned.

It’s Saturday. The art is calling. Loudly.

Our “Visual Arts” show is still looking absolutely fabulous and we’re open 1–4 pm at Sovereign House. Nearly twenty Oakville artists. Every style and medium under the sun. Bold, imaginative, and larger-than-life pieces waiting for you.

Perfect excuse to leave the house and return with better stories (and maybe a new favourite piece).

The Bronte Historical Society thanks Suzy Burtenshaw for her wonderful talk on her family, the Joyces, and their home at Glendella Cottage in Bronte Village. Her stories and memories brought our village's history to life.
