On Tuesday evening, our Director of Philanthropy for BC, Sharon Pound, welcomed guests to Chapter Estates Winery for She Grows Opportunity, an evening filled with connection and meaningful impact.

Guests learned about women farmers in northern Ghana who are expanding their farms and creating brighter futures for their families.

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special.

A huge congratulations to Daniel Genest, our VP of Philanthropy, and supporters Amelia Cook and Matt Bell, who took on the New York City Marathon this past Sunday in support of OIC!

Together, they raised an incredible $13,000 for OIC! We’re grateful for their dedication and commitment, as well as the generosity of everyone who contributed to their fundraising efforts. Their support helps create more opportunities for women, families and communities around the world.

Our friends at have officially completed their fourth continental ride, cycling more than 6,000 km across Africa, from Kenya to Cape Town.

It wasn’t always easy. Along the way, P.L. and Kristen faced a crash, injuries, mechanical setbacks, rough roads, relentless heat, and strong winds. But they kept going, one kilometer at a time, and made it to the finish line.

And they’re not doing it just for the adventure.

P.L. and Kristen set out to cycle across five continents while raising funds and awareness for five charities, including Opportunity International Canada. Their commitment to using their time, energy, and passion to create opportunity for others is truly inspiring.
We’re incredibly grateful to have been chosen as one of the causes behind this journey. Thank you, P.L. and Kristen, for going the distance for women and families working to build a better future.

Africa is officially in the books.

Four continents down, one to go. We’ll be cheering you on every kilometer of the way!

Every step counts.

Recently, our community came together in Fort Langley for a 5 KM fundraising walk in support of Walking People Out of Poverty.

It was so encouraging to see people come together, enjoy the morning, and walk for a cause that means so much to us. And while 5 KM might seem like a small distance, every step and every dollar raised helps entrepreneurs around the world access the funds, resources, and training they need to leave poverty behind.

A huge thank you to everyone who walked, fundraised, donated, and helped make the morning such a success. We’re grateful to have a community that believes in the power of opportunity.

Long-time Opportunity supporters Danielle & Tim Sinclair are on their “Camino Frances” Finale, the final 209 km of an incredible 790 km journey they have undertaken in three stages over three years!

This amazing couple is completing their final stretch as part of Opportunity’s Walking People Out of Poverty campaign, raising funds to empower entrepreneurs in Honduras to build sustainable livelihoods and brighter futures for their families.
