Making the most of a grand day in Victoria. Yesterday's Brisk Walk gang headed out from the Mosi Cafe on Fairfield Road, through Ross Bay Cemetery, up to Moss Rock, and then on through the gorgeous gardens at Government House, and back down St. Charles to Mosi for coffee. Huge thanks to Faye for leading such a great walk.

The VENC Home Décor Group enjoyed a special day trip through the Cowichan Valley, exploring some of the area's most interesting home décor, vintage, and artisan shopping destinations.

The group visited the Shawnigan Vintage Barn, browsed the unique finds at Fanny's Farmhouse in Honeymoon Bay, stopped for lunch in Lake Cowichan, and continued on to Belongings and the Duncan Market. The afternoon included visits to DEMXX in Cobble Hill and A Vintage Storm in Mill Bay before heading back to Victoria.

One of the best things about VENC groups is discovering new places and building new friendships. If you're looking to meet new people and make new friends while discovering all that Victoria has to offer, we'd love to have you join us. Visit VENC and discover everything our club has to offer.

What a great way to spend a Saturday morning! A big thank-you to Anne-Marie for leading last weekend’s Brisk Walk and introducing us to a beautiful new route through one of Victoria’s most scenic neighbourhoods.

Starting at the Tea Room, we made our way through Teapot Alley and along Uplands Park trail to Cattle Point. From there, we followed the shoreline along Willows Beach back to the Tea Room for coffee.

One of the best things about VENC is discovering new places while making new friends, and this walk delivered both.

The VENC Cross-Cultural Cooking Exchange is about much more than food — it’s an opportunity for women to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another through culture, conversation, and cooking. This month's event featured Persian cuisine. The session was led by Aylar Ebrahimi, who moved to Canada from Iran five years ago with a passion for Persian cooking and culture. Opening Niloo Persian Kitchen & Grill in Victoria was always her dream, and she shares authentic Persian food, hospitality, and traditions with the local community through her restaurant.

Last week’s VENC Hiking group tackled the trails through Matheson Lake and Roche Cove Regional Parks, with a route that delivered a little bit of everything: forest climbs, rocky coastal sections, lake views, and some excellent hiking weather.

Roche Cove is known for protecting one of the region’s remaining coastal Douglas-fir ecosystems, including old-growth trees that are several centuries old. The park’s trail network also forms part of the longer Galloping Goose and Sea to Sea regional trail connections, making it a favourite for local hikers and trail runners.

Thanks to everyone who came out for another great day on the trails.

It was a very special day for the Saturday VENC Brisk Walk group. We met at the Breakwater Café before heading along Dallas Road to catch the excitement of the Swiftshore International Yacht Race.

The highlight of the morning? Cheering on two of our very own VENC members, Bernadette Allen and Faye White, aboard the Lady B, who finished with an impressive 6th place finish out of 16 boats in the Inshore Race.

Adding to the experience, pods of Orcas appeared just ahead of the boats. A gorgeous Victoria morning, ocean breezes, whale-spotting, and hometown heroes on the water. Congratulations Bernadette and Faye!

Another beautiful day for VENC’s Moderate Walk group! This week, the gang met at the Oak Bay Marina and enjoyed a scenic walk along the waterfront to Cattle Point. And, of course, no VENC walk is complete without coffee afterward back at the marina. Did you know? Oak Bay Marina has been a fixture on Victoria’s waterfront since 1964 and was one of the first marinas in the region designed to accommodate both recreational boaters and visitors arriving by seaplane, helping make Oak Bay a popular destination for travelers exploring the coast.

Sunday brunch with this group is always a treat. This week, the VENC Sunday Brunch gang gathered at LURE Restaurant & Bar. There’s something special about lingering over brunch while enjoying great food and that amazing waterfront backdrop.

What a great way to kick off the weekend. This week’s VENC Brisk Walk started at Mosi Florentine Cafe on a beautiful, sun-filled morning. From there, we headed out along the Bowker Creek Trail (a hidden gem undergoing a long-term restoration project to bring it back to a more natural, salmon-friendly habitat). From there, we made our way along Willows Beach, then back to Mosi for coffee and well-deserved treats.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thanks to Edie for leading the group—and arranging such splendid weather!

Last Sunday’s VENC hike took us through the beautiful trails of John Dean Provincial Park—home to some of the oldest Douglas fir trees on the peninsula. The park itself exists thanks to John Dean, who donated the land in the 1920s with the vision of preserving this forest “for the enjoyment of the public…for all time.” One of the highlights is Pickles’ Bluff, offering sweeping views across the Saanich Inlet, Gulf Islands, and even Mount Baker on a clear day.

A big thank you to our wonderful hike leader, Emilia Torabi, for guiding us along the route.

If you’re new to Victoria—or just looking to explore more of it with a great group of women—we’d love to have you join us!
