Meet Ephy! 💚📚

With school starting back up soon, we wanted to introduce you to someone making a difference at Soweto Junior Education Centre.

Ephy Bwire is a former student who has come full circle and is now teaching at the school himself! He returned to share his knowledge in computer literacy and mathematics while encouraging students to believe in their potential.

Your support helps provide meals so students can focus on learning, growing, and building a future of their own, just like Ephy!

I live with both of my parents at Soweto here in Kibera. We are 5 in our family. My dad is jobless and my mother is a cleaner. She cleans my school in exchange of my education. I love school and learning the word of God. When I grow up, I want to be President.”

Hi friend! My name is Mercy Khainza. I am a girl. I am 11 years of age and I school at Soweto Junior Centre here in Kibera. Our school is very unique and we get to be given lunch of rice and beans and sometimes ugali (maize porridge) and Sukuma wiki (sauteed vegetables). I am the Class Representative for Grade 4 and I love working with both teachers and my fellow classmates. I am the first born and we’re 3 in our family. We represented our school last year during our music festival and we plan to do better this year. I want to be a Music Director when I grow up. Thanks for reading my story.

We did it!! Dip #20 of the 20 day challenge !!
We had an amazing Community Dip at Willows beach today - thanks so much to everyone who came out and supported us! We even had two unicorns!
This was truly a" Dip felt around the world " - with supporters dipping in Oslo-Norway (see video), Barcelona - Spain, Manly Beach - Australia, Parksville- British Columbia and Kiberia-Kenya - where the children did their own dip in Support.
So heartwarming to see all the support today and over the whole challenge - thank you all.
