We are a non-profit society and we are having our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, November 8 at 3:30 pm.

All NIFSS members and non-members are invited to attend the AGM. We will require a quorum of members to conduct our business, which includes receiving the financial statements of the previous year and the budget of the current year and voting in board members.

For those attending the AGM, coffee & tea and an assortment of goodies will be available at 3:00 pm, following the 1 pm screening of our feature film.

All AGM attendees will be entered into a raffle to win a $30 gift certificate for a Black Forest Cake (a nod to our German feature film Köln 75) from Columbia Bakery.

Immediately following our AGM, we will screen two award winning Canadian short films (see below) for AGM attendees.

If you are not yet a member and would like to be, you can join online here for a one-time fee of $10, or you can sign up at the registration desk on film day.

An official AGM notice and agenda will be sent to all NIFSS members this coming week.

Köln 75 captures the compelling, entertaining, and, until now, unknown back story of jazz pianist Keith Jarrett’s one-hour, entirely improvised concert.

This film explores how the concert was conceived and orchestrated by the efforts of up-and-coming and unstoppable 18-year-old concert promoter, Vera Brandes.

It Was Just An Accident (Feature film) :
-The absurdity and cruelty of senseless wars hitting my soul
- heavy, important, not pleasant but glad to have seen it
- worth the trip from Van!
-It totally lost me
- Amazing movie - complex, funny, tragic - the stark poignancy of humanity
- don’t know what to think

Peak Everything (Matinee film):
- I found the film a shallow, a bit confusing but I loved all the positive messages
- definitely recommend it. All kinds of emotions and thoughts portrayed
- this film was brilliant and funny and profound and deeply moving. Let’s have more films from Quebec.
- heavier than expected - comedic moments but also heaviness. Excellent cast
- heavy and long/slow at times.

Peak Everything (Amour Apocalypse) is our October matinee film.

This film is a wild ride, populated by conspiracy-theorizing drug dealers and comically entitled Gen Zers, and offering the protagonist numerous opportunities to confirm his worst fears about the state of the planet. But at the core of this over-the-top love story are eternal questions about how best to use our time on this Earth, how to truly care for each other — and how to accept ourselves as we are.

Rated 14A for sexually suggestive scenes and for language.

Our October feature film is It Was Just an Accident, winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival.

As victims of Iran’s regime grow in number and revolts are widely reported, one of the country's most daring auteurs boldly turns the camera on himself and asks: Should the victims of the state’s crimes seek revenge or show mercy?

This feature film will be an unforgettable edge-of-your-seat thriller.
Rated PG for moderate frightening & intense scenes and profanity, and mild violence.
