🌟 Member Spotlight Series: Meet Jill!
Jill joined the Rotary Club of Nanaimo Daybreak in 2021, but her connection to Rotary began long before she officially became a member.
While helping her husband, a fellow Rotarian, Jill became involved in raising funds to sponsor a Syrian family who had been waiting in Lebanon for nine years to come to Canada. With $19,000 still needed, they shared the family’s story through Zoom presentations with Rotary clubs from Duncan to Campbell River. The response was incredible. Rotarians from across Vancouver Island came together, raised more than the amount needed, and the family was eventually able to begin their new life in Canada.
For Jill, that experience showed what Rotary is all about.
“Rotarians share a common value system. These were people I wanted to get to know better and work with for the greater good. So I joined.”
Outside of Rotary, music is a big part of Jill’s life. She plays piano and French horn and conducts several groups, keeping her busy three nights a week! Her family and extended family mean the most to her, and she feels grateful to have them living nearby.
And one thing you might not know about Jill? She used to raise Angora goats! 🐐
We’re so grateful to have Jill as part of our Rotary family and for the kindness, energy and musical talent she brings to our Nanaimo community.
