On March 21st, the McGill African Students’ Society (MASS) hosted its Annual Gala, ORÍKÌ: Where Heritage Meets Excellence.

Inspired by the Yoruba tradition of oríkì, the evening was a celebration of lineage, identity, and the legacy carried across generations. Through fashion, performance, and shared moments, the night honoured the past, embodied the present, and stepped into the future of African excellence.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to making this night so special. Your presence, energy, and support are what bring this vision to life.

This Gala would not have been possible without the dedication of our organizing team, led by Kayla Registre and Saroja Camara, alongside:
Théry Flora Gahimana, Jeannine Kota Leno, Doriane Ursot, Sheena Kirichu, Oumou Ba, Johana Gaba, Aicha Hassan-Omar, and Vanessa Wright.

A special thank you to all the designers, models and performers whose talent, creativity, and artistry shaped the evening and brought ORÍKÌ to life.

We also extend our gratitude to our partners: SSMU and BISSI.

ORÍKÌ was more than a celebration. It was a space to honour heritage, uplift talent, and come together through culture.
