🤝 Meet Economics grad Tatiana Auguste, BA 25, one of Canada’s youngest elected federal officials. A Member of Parliament for Terrebonne, elected in the 2025 federal election, Auguste officially received her Concordia degree while serving as an MP.

🌟 "Political parties have to do more to help more young candidates, more women and more people of colour enter politics and public service," shares Auguste, who represents a new generation of elected officials bringing diverse experiences and perspectives to Canadian public life.

🏠 After travelling across the St. Lawrence River, artist and Concordia University, Faculty of Fine Arts grad Clara Cousineau’s bright yellow house has arrived in Baie-Saint-Paul for her art-action project Note to self.

👀 Part of Symposium international d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, the installation is now at the mouth of the Gouffre River and will be open to the public August 27–30.

✨ Bravo! Concordia University graduate Charlotte Cornfield, BFA 10, has been shortlisted for the 2026 Polaris Music Prize for her sixth album, Hurts Like Hell.

It marks Cornfield’s first time on the Polaris shortlist, seven years after The Shape of Your Name was longlisted in 2019. The singer-songwriter says her time studying jazz drumming at Concordia helped shape both her musicianship and songwriting.

“I had some really great teachers and connected with so many musicians. Concordia was an amazing time.”

🌟 Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and , Kim Nguyen, BFA 97, returns to theatres September 4 with his new documentary, A Photo in Saigon: Shots Fired at Two Lives.

🏆 Following acclaimed festival runs in Toronto and Vancouver, the and Noble Films production explores two Vietnamese families connected by a legendary wartime photograph.

🏀 The Hannah Lusthaus Hoop Dreams Award is being created in memory of Hannah, a longtime member of the Concordia University community who served as timekeeper and scorekeeper for the Concordia Stingers men’s basketball team for 14 years.

The award will be presented annually to a men’s basketball player who reflects the qualities Hannah brought to the team: a positive attitude, perseverance and a commitment to others.

✨ Bravo! Concordia's Faculty of Arts and Science alumna Tamm Thibeault, BA 23, is a world champion after just five professional fights!

On Saturday, the two-time Olympian defeated Australia’s Desley Robinson to claim the IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine middleweight world titles.

Before turning professional, Thibeault had already built an impressive international career, including a world championship title in 2022. She graduated from Concordia in 2023 with a BA in Urban Studies and Urban Planning, balancing her studies with the demands of competing internationally.

Au fil de son parcours, Tammara s’est distinguée autant par sa discipline que par sa constance, sur le ring comme à l’extérieur. Ce nouveau titre mondial vient couronner des années de travail et une progression remarquable vers le plus haut niveau.

🧡 Following International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, we’re highlighting the Indigenous artists and Concordia University graduates behind new permanent artworks taking shape on the Henry F. Hall Building terrace.

Professor Hannah Claus, MFA 04, and Kaia’tanó:ron Dumoulin Bush, an Onkwehón:we/French-Canadian artist, are co-creating Teionihtiohtià:kon, a panoramic mural for the space. Work has officially started, with Diane Roe, BFA 17, providing support through MU and mentoring Indigenous art students involved in the process.

The space will also feature Concordia’s first permanent artwork by a contemporary Indigenous artist. Jobena Petonoquot, BFA 12, MFA 26, and Jason Sikoak, BFA 23, were invited to develop proposals for a bronze medallion that will be incorporated into the terrace — Sikoak's "A Song for Nuliajuk" was selected and will become part of Concordia's permanent public art collection.

Ces œuvres d'art feront partie intégrante de la terrasse réaménagée du pavillon Henry-F.-Hall, aux côtés de plantes indigènes de la région et d'éléments conçus pour mettre en valeur les langues autochtones et la présence des peuples autochtones sur ce territoire. Le projet sera officiellement dévoilé le 30 septembre, à l'occasion de la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation.

🤩 Meet grad Eric Lafalaise, BFA 05, founder of Montreal-based Red Brand Studios - Les Studios de la Marque Rouge. Born in Montreal and raised in Haiti, Eric returned to Quebec, where he now champions filmmakers from marginalized and underrepresented communities, helping to bring fresh perspectives to the screen.
