HCA is continuing the restoration and expansion of wetlands at Saltfleet Conservation Area. This long-term project is transforming former agricultural lands into a series of wetlands designed to help reduce downstream flooding while creating and enhancing important habitat for plants and wildlife.

Come join the fun and learn more about nature!

Bruleville Nature Park BioBlitz 🔎

Join the HNC and Hamilton Conservation Authority for a family-friendly evening Bioblitz at Bruleville Nature Park! Participants will learn how to use iNaturalist as well as field guides to identify the variety of living things found in this park. Your observations will contribute to the current Natural Areas Inventory (NAI) and help our understanding of Hamilton's urban forests.

If possible, participants should download the iNauralist app and create an account prior to the event. Alternatively, participants can bring their own cameras to take photos and upload to the web application at home. A tablet will be available for use if needed. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

The property is primarily forest and wetland habitat and includes the headwaters of Fletcher Creek.

Boat launch notice – Fifty Point Marina

A reminder that the Fifty Point Marina boat launch will be temporarily closed while the dredging contractor is actively working in the launch area on Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 for barge setup.

Boating access will be maintained as much as reasonably possible when the contractor is not actively working in the boat launch area.

Overnight dredging is scheduled to begin on August 19.

Due to the presence of blue-green algae, the beach and swimming area at Christie Lake Conservation Area is now closed to swimmers and animals.

Blue-green algae can produce toxins that may pose a health risk to people and pets. Please avoid entering the water and keep pets out of the affected area until further notice.
