Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we celebrate and honour the rich cultures, histories, knowledge, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
The Greenbelt is a landscape with deep cultural significance that has been stewarded by First Peoples since time immemorial. The forests, wetlands, rivers, farmlands, and waterways we work to protect today have been cared for by Indigenous Peoples for generations.
As a Foundation, we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from and support Indigenous-led initiatives that help strengthen connections to the land, elevate Indigenous histories and knowledge, and advance understanding and reconciliation.
Today is a day to celebrate, listen, learn, and reflect. We encourage everyone to take time to learn about the Indigenous Peoples, histories, and treaty relationships connected to the places they call home.
