TEAD Therapeutic Riding Centre

TEAD Therapeutic Riding Centre Enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities through therapy with horses 🩡🐴

Riders are matched to their horse to ensure that they receive maximum benefit while riding. A rider with very tight, spastic muscles, usually starts off on a narrow, smooth gaited horse to encourage relaxation of the muscles, whereas a rider with poor balance or trunk control would be mounted on a wider horse to provide them with a more stable base of support. Lessons vary in length from 30-60 min

utes depending on the riders age and ability. Exercises are recommended by the physiotherapist and implemented by the riding instructor. Progress is monitored on a weekly basis and records are kept to ensure that all the riders are receiving individual feed back. Once our riders can maintain their balance in the arena, we take them outside where they learn to ride up and down hills, and enjoy the scenary and fresh air on our 92 acre farm nestled in the rolling hills of Mount Hope, Hamilton.

Introducing one of the newest additions to our equine family - meet Bubbles! πŸ’™

Bubbles is a sweet and stout 14hh Haflinger mare with a heart of gold, and a natural affinity for therapeutic programming. She is very vocal, and loves to make cute sounds to express herself. Previously, she worked as a team driving horse. If you see her on the farm, don't forget to say hello.

Welcome Bubbles - we are so happy you've joined the TEAD family! 🐴🩡

Waldo here again, for one last round of interviews in honour of National Help a Horse Day last Sunday! πŸ’™

As you can see, there are many things I and my equine friends need to have happy, healthy lives, and continue our life-changing work at TEAD. Each gift counts, and goes a long way in positively supporting our community and those who greatly benefit from TEAD's programs.

From a small smile, to a first word, to feelings of independence and freedom - these are things my horse and pony friends bring to participants' lives on a regular basis! Give a gift today to show us your love and support us in our important work , and allow us to keep giving in return. 🩡🐴

Hi friends… it’s me, Waldo πŸ΄πŸ’™

Today is National Help a Horse Day, and I wanted to tell you something important…

Every day, me and my herd friends show up to help humans feel brave, strong, and supported. We carry them, walk beside them, and sometimes just stand quietly while they find their confidence. It’s kind of our superpower.

But taking care of us takes a lot too β€” yummy hay, cozy bedding, vet visits, and all the things that keep us happy and healthy so we can keep doing what we love.

If you’re able, today would mean so much if you helped take care of us, the same way we take care of our people 🩡

Every little bit helps my herd continue our important work at TEAD.

Thanks for loving us πŸ’™
(Waldo says extra nose boops for you)
