REMINDER: Caledonia Community Give & Take Event

We have a wonderful problem: a very large food donation is coming to the Caledonia Community Pantry, and we do not have enough room to store it all!

So, we are inviting the entire community to join us for a special Community Give & Take Event:

📅 August 6
⏰ 4:30–6:30 p.m.
📍 The Caledonia Community Pantry
(Behind the Caledonia Presbyterian Church - 117 Argyle St. N.)

Here is how it works:

💛 Are you in need of food donations? Come choose food to take home for yourself or your family.

💛 Want to help the pantry? Come collect food that you can safely store at home, then return it to the pantry over the following weeks when the shelves need a top-up.

Everyone will arrive, select food and leave with donations, so no one will know whether someone is taking food for their household or storing it on behalf of the pantry. There is no need to explain why you are attending. Everyone’s privacy will be respected, and everyone is welcome.

📦 Please bring your own box, reusable bag, tote or bin to carry your items home.

Together, we can make space, prevent food from going to waste and keep the pantry stocked for weeks to come.

📣 Please help us spread the word! Share this post with your friends, family, neighbours and local community groups so we can reach both those who may need the food and those who can help us store it.

Come take what you need or pack up what you can store! 💛

Happy New Year to everyone. Just wanted to say thankyou for everyone who signed up for monitoring the pantry over the holidays.
Now that its the new year I hope you all will continue to care for those who need our help the most.
Please use the signup app to volunteer to check the box. We need more people to check the box, add items if you are able and take away garbage collected in the bin.

The food pantry behind the Presbyterian Church is almost completely empty of donations. PLEASE consider donating some non perishable items if you are able. (Eg: cereal, rice, pasta/sauce, tuna)

I would like to recognize and thank members of my church, St. Pauls Anglican Church Caledonia for their ongoing support of the Pantry. A plastic storage box near the Parish Hall door was set up for donations and it is mentioned in the church bulletin every week. 😇🙏 Kathy Drewitt

🚫 Reminder: Non-Perishable Donations Only, Please!

We’re so grateful for everyone’s generosity in supporting our community pantry! Over the weekend, we received a number of perishable food items. Unfortunately, we don’t have the facilities to safely store these items.

To help us keep things safe and accessible for everyone, please donate non-perishable goods only — items like canned foods, pasta, rice, peanut butter, and other shelf-stable essentials are always appreciated.

Thank you for your continued kindness and support! Together, we’re making a real difference. 💙

'Disappointed' might be an understatement... to dump trash less than a foot from the trash can 😔

We have many volunteers who work diligently behind the scenes to ensure the Caledonia Community Pantry is tidy and has staples on hand.
There are also resources available at the Community Support Centre Haldimand-Norfolk to help plan and budget meals as well.
And many thanks to Caledonia & District Food Bank for all that they do (as well as all the people who support it!)
