Carter was Christine and Kevin’s youngest child. At just five and a half months old, he experienced a traumatic brain injury that left him with severe disabilities and complex medical needs.
His family was told he may not live past age three. He lived to nearly 17.
For Christine and Kevin, caring for Carter meant years of love, devotion and around-the-clock responsibility, often with little support.
Without access to pediatric hospice or specialized respite care, families like Carter’s carry so much on their own.
Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice will help change that by giving children with serious illness and medical complexity, and the families who care for them, a trusted place for comfort, respite and support.
