New Hope Bikes

New Hope Bikes Keep up to date with everything that's taking place at New Hope Community Bikes. A Non-Profit Social Enterprise Bike Shop in East Hamilton.

We refurbish bikes for affordable transportation, offer bike repair, and teach everyone how to fix their own bikes through formal and informal instruction. We offer tools and stand space to work on your own bike and believe that bikes can help lead to healthier and more sustainable communities and environments, and that everyone should have access to affordable transportation. We offer Ride Smart

safe cycling training programs in Hamilton Schools to help students develop cycling skills and adopt cycling as part of their physical literacy becoming healthy and active for life. For more information about Ride Smart programs go to www.newhopecommunitybikes.com/ride-smart.html

We also host the yearly Everesting Challenge, wherein riders collaborate in teams or solo to climb a gruelling 8,800 metres - the height of Mt. Everest! - to raise money in support of New Hope's cycling education, repair programs and outreach. For more information on Everesting 2021 go to

Thanks to smpl Design Studio for supporting bike safety at Everesting! 🚴🔧

8,848 metres is a long way up. $30,000 is a big goal.

Our Everesting riders have been doing a great job fundraising so far, and we wanted to take a minute to show you what that fundraising helps support.

A portion of the money raised through Everesting goes toward New Hope Community Bikes programs like Ride Smart, where kids learn the skills to ride safely and confidently.

Thanks to everyone who’s been donating and supporting our riders. Keep it going!

Everesting is a cycling challenge built around one simple idea: pick a hill and keep climbing it until you've gained 8,848 metres of elevation, the height of Mount Everest.

BUT the Everesting Cycling Fest takes that idea and makes it customizable, so more people can find a challenge that works for them.

On October 3, we’re bringing the challenge to Fifty Road in Hamilton. Whether you want to take on the full 8,848 metres, tackle a smaller elevation, split the climbing with a team, or just try a few climbs, there’s a way to take part. 🚴🗻

🍺 We’re thrilled to announce that Everesting will have a B**R TENT!

Thanks to Aquanova Brewing Co., the official b**r sponsor of Everesting, you’ll be able to grab a cold one at the event, and we’re taking it up a notch with a custom Everesting b**r can made just for the event.

Even better, a portion of the proceeds will go toward the Everesting fundraiser supporting New Hope Community Bikes.

So yes, you officially have an excuse to have a drink and support a good cause. We’ll cheers to that. 🍻

See you October 3!

323 km. 10 hours and 50 minutes. $1,610 raised. 🤯

This past Saturday, Alex McDonald set out from Dundurn Castle on the Lake to Lake 300, a 300 km ride in support of the Indigenous Bike Program in Temagami.

set out to push his own limits, and he did exactly that. Along the way, other riders joined him for different parts of the journey, turning a personal challenge into a day shared with a community of people who were willing to put in the work alongside him.

Alex, congrats on an incredible ride, and thank you for putting in the time, effort, and kilometres to make it happen. And thank you to everyone who rode alongside him and everyone who donated. 🙌 Every dollar helps support opportunities for Indigenous youth to learn, ride, and connect through cycling 🚴✨
