Father’s Day on social media can feel impossible when you’re grieving. The photos, the captions, the ā€œbest dadā€ posts… it’s a lot, and you’re allowed to step back from it.

This carousel is a gentle guide for getting through today, whether that means logging off for a while or sharing your own memory of him. There’s no right way to grieve out loud (or quietly).

However you spend today, scrolling, offline, with people, alone, it’s valid. šŸ’›

If you’re struggling today, you don’t have to carry it by yourself. Reach out to someone you trust, or a grief support line if you need it.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team at Serenia Life Financial 🫶

This week, our President Christina Walton and Chair Lynn Felker had the honour of meeting with Angela Ricci, Kathleen O’Hagan, Lyndsey Ehgoetz, and the Serenia Life Financial team in Waterloo to receive the proceeds from their Spring fundraising drive.

For three years, Serenia Life Financial has stood alongside grieving kids across Canada — and this year, their team went above and beyond. Throughout May, employees raised funds through team competitions, raffles, silent auctions, multicultural lunches, flower and treat sales, a mini car wash, and so much more. šŸ’›

And their generosity didn’t stop there. They also donated more than 30 children’s books to help kids navigate healing after the loss of a loved one. šŸ“š

To everyone at Serenia Life Financial, thank you for giving grieving children healing and hope. Your kindness means the world. 🌟

Thank you Serenia Life Financial for your support for the last 3 years, to help grieving children across Canada!

We are so excited to have completed another very successful Head Office Fundraiser in support of The Children's Grief Foundation of Canada. Over the past three years, we are proud to have raised $13,675 for this deserving organization. And we are truly so grateful to all of our generous Serenia Life employees who participated in some way — whether they competed, donated, or simply cheered us on from the sidelines! And a very special mention to for their very generous donation.🩵

As Mother’s Day approaches in North America šŸ’, let’s remember that many children are grieving the loss of a mother figure, a mom, aunt, grandma, or close family friend. This time of year can be especially hard, and it’s so important that we show up with support and understanding šŸ’™

Teachers, a gentle reminder that not all students may feel comfortable participating in Mother’s Day activities. Offering alternative options or the ability to opt out can make a meaningful difference.

For grieving children and teens, here are a few ways to honour their loved one on Mother’s Day ✨

Jim Panoff from Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home - Ancaster Chapel gets it.

As a funeral director, he sees the reality families face every day, and he’s chosen to take action by supporting the Children’s Grief Foundation of Canada. Because no child should have to navigate grief alone.

Jim, thank you for showing what real community leadership looks like. We’re so grateful to have you in our corner.

If you’re in the funeral service community, take a page from Jim’s book. Help us make sure every child has the support they deserve.

After two incredible years on the CGFC Board, we’re sending a heartfelt thank you to Claire Nicholson as she steps down from her role as a board member. šŸ’›

Claire has made such a meaningful impact, from lending her digital expertise during our website updates to supporting fundraising efforts, reviewing grants, and always jumping in to help with ad hoc initiatives. She has been a constant, thoughtful contributor across so many areas of our work.

She’s also just been an absolute pleasure to work with, and we’re so grateful for the time, care, and energy she’s given to CGFC.

While we’ll miss her on the Board, we’re so happy to welcome Claire as a continued champion of our mission. Wishing her all the very best in what’s ahead šŸ’«
