L'Arche Halifax

In L'Arche, people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together. L'Arche in Canada has nearly 200 homes and workshops or day programs.

These are grouped into what L'Arche calls "communities". There are 29 communities of L'Arche located across Canada from Cape Breton to Vancouver Island. L'Arche communities are open and welcoming of neighbours and friends and often engage in various collaborations at the local level.

We are hosting an online auction from August 14 to September 13!

The funds raised from this auction will support the installation of a heat pump in our duplex homes, which will significantly improve the daily lives of our core members. A heat pump will ensure that our home remains warm during the winter months and cool throughout the summer, creating a space where everyone feels safe, comfortable, and at home. In addition to these immediate benefits, a heat pump is an energy-efficient solution that will reduce our annual operating costs and allow us to redirect funds toward programs and activities that enrich the lives of our core members.

Items for auction:

➡️Signed Sidney Crosby jersey (bidding will start at $3000).
➡️10 tickets to the Halifax Mooseheads vs. Gatineau hockey game in the Emera Premium Suite at Scotiabank Centre Halifax on Sunday, December 6 at 3 p.m. (bidding will start at $500).

How it works:

1️⃣The auction will start on August 13 at 12 p.m. Atlantic at this link: https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/larche-halifax-online-auction
2️⃣ The starting bid and/or the highest bids will be displayed next to each auction item on the auction website.
3️⃣ To place a bid, click on the auction item and select either the single bid or auto-bid option.
4️⃣ Once a bid is selected, proceed to enter contact details and payment information. Only successful bidders will be charged at the end of the auction. *Please note that tips added to the transaction by the website are voluntary and can be removed before completing your payment.
5️⃣ The auction will end on September 13 at 12 p.m. Atlantic. At this time, successful bidders for each item will be notified via email and will be contacted to arrange payment and delivery/pick up.

Delivery options:

➡️Our L’Arche Halifax team can deliver auction items to successful bidders who live within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
➡️If successful bidders are located outside of the HRM, auction items can be shipped to the bidders address at their own expense.
➡️Successful bidders can also pick up auction items at L’Arche Halifax (5512 Sullivan Street, Halifax).

On July 7, we hosted our L’Arche Halifax Annual General Meeting.

After a dedicated tenure, Wayne DiPersio stepped down from his role as Board Chair during this year’s AGM. Although he will remain as a board member and will still be actively involved in our community, we would like to thank Wayne for his support and dedication to L’Arche Halifax these past few years!

We are excited to welcome Joe Malek as our new Board Chair. Joe has been a L’Arche Halifax Board Member for the past two years and brings a wealth of experience to his new role. We look forward to what the future holds under his guidance.
