Whenever we boost one of our posts, the comment section fills with familiar questions and criticisms. We hear that our work is “racist,” or that there would be outrage if there were “White women only” or “White men only” spaces.

So this feels like the right time to explain why Black Girls Gather exists.

Black women deserve spaces where we don’t have to explain ourselves before we can simply exist.

Closed spaces aren’t about exclusion—they’re about restoration.

For generations, Black women have carried the weight of families, workplaces, communities, and movements while often navigating racism and sexism at the same time. We deserve spaces where our voices are centered, our lived experiences are understood without explanation, our joy is celebrated, our grief is held, and our healing is prioritized.

Community isn’t built by requiring every space to serve every person. Sometimes it’s built by intentionally creating environments where people with shared lived experiences can be vulnerable, connect deeply, and support one another.

Creating spaces specifically for Black women isn’t about shutting others out. It’s about making sure Black women also have spaces where we are free to show up as our whole selves.

🤎 Because we deserve to rest.
🤎 Because we deserve to be heard.
🤎 Because we deserve to belong.

We believe that when Black women are well, connected, and supported, our families, communities, and society are stronger because of it.

For the first time, we are sharing the story of our journey. 👀

Since 2018, Black Girls Gather has grown from a grassroots response to the needs of racialized women on local campuses into a thriving community rooted in connection, care, and opportunity.

Today, we are excited to share our first Impact Report.

This report captures the collective impact of Black women uplifting Black women over the last seven years. From entrepreneurship and career development to community care and mentorship, the stories told in these pages belong to all of us.

This couldn’t have been possible without all of you - your commitment to our vision, and your support, wisdom, and care every step of the way. Thank you for being a part of our journey.

For us, this is a milestone worth celebrating! 🙏🏾🎉

When the Honorable Marci Ien took the stage, she didn’t just give a speech she gave us a mandate! To stand tall! And that’s exactly what we are doing this year.

We are still reflecting on what it means to live through the “dash”, making every moment between our start and our finish count for our community. ❤️👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏾
