We’re excited to share that we are developing a supportive housing model at The Bridge. This will support current clients to transition from shelter to supportive housing in community.

Ending family homelessness requires more than emergency shelter. It requires prevention before homelessness happens, strengthened supports through critical life transitions, solutions to poverty and gender-based violence, all to ensure that families have access to safe, stable, affordable housing. An investment in families is an investment in the health and wellbeing of our communities.

As we look back on our previous fiscal year, we are reminded that we don’t do any of this work alone. Thank you to our compassionate staff and incredible volunteers who provide care, supports, and services ever day. Thank you to community and government partners and our many generous donors who fund this important work. And a special thank you to clients for trusting us, and for sharing their knowledge and experiences. Clients help us understand where there are gaps and barriers which allow Adsum to provide effective service and advocacy. Together, we move toward the day when everyone will have a safe, permanent home.

Thank you to everyone who came to Adsum’s Open House today! It was incredible to look around the room and see so many volunteers, staff, supporters, and partners in this work. A special thanks to our partners at Nova Scotia Health and Shelter Nova Scotia, and our very own recreational therapist, Ceilidh Lang, for sharing some of their work with our attendees.

It is so important to continue to connect, to listen, and to learn from each other so we can all work together to end homelessness. Thank you to everyone who showed up for us and this work today.

Last week, Adsum had the opportunity to connect with residents of District 8 thanks to the Participatory Budget run by Virginia Hinch.

We are also pleased to announce that we were awarded $5,000 to purchase new furniture for our permanent, affordable housing project. Thank you to everyone who chatted with us and voted for our project!
