Collaborations
The Centre has not had an in-house exhibition space since 1992. Instead, we have initiated the creative activity of finding the “perfect” venue for each programming event. Thus we rent space or collaborate with diverse groups and organizations to use their spaces. These partnerships have increased others’ awareness of the Centre and its programs along with an expansion and cross-pol

lination of audiences. Recent and upcoming venues include: the Eyelevel gallery, the Khyber Arts Centre, Neptune Theatre, the Mi’kmaq Native Friendship Centre, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, the Dalhousie Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Mount Saint Vincent University Art Gallery and Saint Mary’s University Gallery. Introduction to Programs
The Centre stimulates the production, research and presentation of new works through three areas: annual programs, exhibitions, and production resources. There are five established Annual Programs: the Local Artist-In-Residence Program, the Visiting Artist Program, the Media Arts Scholarship Program, the New Media and Electronics Lab, and the Video to Go Program. There is an on-going commitment to exhibitions and presentations developed through our Annual Programming Grant that consists of approximately twenty presentations, exhibitions and guest curatorial projects per year; and the Centre preserves work in our archive and showcases productions through the Media Train. By focusing our energy around these eight areas of activity we support a wide range of media artists who work in different genres.

Join the CFAT team – applications close April 10!!

CFAT is looking for our next Programming Coordinator, stat!

This is a permanent full-time role at the heart of everything we do: planning and promoting our public programming, managing events on the ground, handling communications, and keeping the machine running. It's four days a week at $45,950 gross annually, with five weeks vacation, two weeks Creative Leave, and access to our facilities and equipment on your off hours.

We're a small team doing big things. This year alone we're launching the Conference for Art Games (C4AG), running an experimental art economies lab with UKAI Projects (Goblin Market), and preparing to move into our new home at 2199 Gottingen Street. The person stepping into this role will be in the thick of all of it.

We're looking for someone who's organized and communicative, comfortable wearing a lot of hats, and genuinely excited about experimental media art. Grant writing chops, curatorial experience, and camera skills are all assets, but enthusiasm and follow-through matter just as much.

Applications are due April 10 at 11:59pm Atlantic Time.

To apply, send your CV, a cover letter, and references to [email protected]. Questions welcome at the same address.

The full job posting is on our website at cfat.ca. We strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, LGBTQ2SIA+, disabled, femme, and other underrepresented applicants. CFAT's facility is low-barrier but does not have accessible washroom facilities.

We're hoping to have someone in the door by April 27, so don't sleep on this one.

I WANT TO BURST

Gabe Moore

I WANT TO BURST is a declaration of selfhood. Unfolding in video and audio the work documents a process of reorientation toward a body that feels like home. The slippery, mutable fabric of identity is examined through self-portraiture and performance tracing a synthesis of the body, from desire to reality.

In a durational act of breath and resistance, Moore is shrouded in a cocoon of black plastic wrap. Using nails, teeth, and sinew, they bite, rip, tear, stretch, and push against the synthetic bindings, finally emerging sweaty and raw. Transition is an act of self-creation. I birth myself.

Audio reactive sculpture and game designed in collaboration with John Janigan-Mills.
