The LOVE Gala is almost here and the energy is unreal. We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and powerful nominations that came in from across Nova Scotia. Nominations are now closed and truly, thank you. The stories, the people, the impact… we are humbled by every single submission and are taking our time to honour them properly.

The LOVE Gala is coming up on February 13 and we are coming together to celebrate the people in our communities who lead with kindness, compassion, and heart. We want our youth to see that these values matter and that they are worth recognizing.
Right now, we need more nominations, especially for the Nursing Award and Top Youth Organization. If you know a nurse or a youth-focused organization doing incredible work, please take a moment to nominate them. It truly makes a difference.
We are also running our 50/50, with proceeds going toward growing our awards cash prize and supporting our work. Every ticket helps.

On February 13th, we host the very first LOVE Gala. This night is about recognition. About showing our youth that leading with love, kindness, and compassion matters and deserves to be celebrated in our communities.
We are honoured to welcome Mike Savage for opening remarks and the presentation of our top honour, the LOVE Award. We will also be dancing the night away with live music from Asia Nu Gruv just in time for Valentine’s Day 💃🕺

As this year comes to a close, we pause with gratitude 🤍

LOVE began operating Halifax in January 2000 with one program and 15 youth enrolled. Since then, we have grown to serve over 200 youth every year through 8 programs in Halifax, Sipekne’katik, and Membertou First Nation. We are unique in that every youth enrolled in our programs has access to a Youth Worker and Registered Social Worker 24/7.
Our programs include media-arts exploration, group discussion, social and emotional learning, leadership development opportunities, and one-on-one, 24/7 support. Participants emerge from LOVE’s programs with greater resilience, skills, and support to overcome challenges, and develop into strong, independent leaders.
LOVE youth are intelligent, caring, and full of potential; however, we often meet them at a time in their lives when they are disenfranchised, unhappy, or hurt. LOVE youth are aged 12-18 at intake, and often remain involved in our programs into their twenties. Youth alumni have gone on to be involved with LOVE as camp staff, program staff, and workshop facilitators.
- LOVE NS provides over 400 hours of programming and 1,200 hours of one-on-one support to youth annually
- LOVE NS provides approximately 2,880 meals and 3,000 bus tickets to youth annually
- 90.6% of LOVE youth agreed or strongly agreed that they feel heard at LOVE
-86.3% of LOVE youth agreed or strongly agreed that because of their participation in LOVE they know where to go to get help if they have a problem.
