I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:19)

In desert rain, the land may sometimes look dry but the reality is that there are springs of water flowing as the Holy Spirit stirs people to know him. Fruit is being born as students journey with Christians. God is very present in the culture, the people and he has been calling them to follow him and be his disciples. Many there have never met a Christian or read the Bible.

By going on an internship with Desert Rain you will be given time to develop relationships of trust with those who are thirsty and looking for the love that only Jesus provides.

An internship in Desert Rain gives you the opportunity to partner with God in the work He is doing in a cultural context that values relationships and hospitality.

You’ll gain invaluable life skills as you love God, team, and neighbour.
You’ll become friends with locals, learn a new language, and see the beauty and gospel in a culture different from your own.
You’ll learn how to effectively share your faith in a relational context that can prepare you for a lifetime of ministry inside and outside vocational ministry.
You’ll see how the Word comes alive in a place that is similar to the world it was written in.

Would you consider joining God in that work?
Applications are open until March 1, see our link in bio or dm if you’d like to talk to someone to learn more.

We are ordinary people making sense of life in light of Jesus. When we see God working in another person’s life, it helps us recognize him working in our own.

Meet Enoch! He wrote about God reshaping how he views leading worship.

“This year, God has been reshaping how I view leading worship. I have been a worship leader at church and in my community in a variety of ways since I was in grade seven. Recently, I’ve been struggling to lead with joy and passion. I’ve been wrestling with discouragement and lack of confidence.

As I’ve been put into roles of leadership and mentorship, I’ve tried to be intentional about learning and teaching so we can all be better worship leaders. However, I’ve felt like I haven’t seen any growth in recent years. My conversations and interactions with people have felt uninspired. Leading worship has felt like singing to a library. The lack of response and engagement made me question what I was doing, my expectations of leading worship, and even my calling into worship ministry.

However, God has been reminding me of the point of worship: “It’s not about you and it’s not about the people. It’s about *God.* ”

Did you know that operational roles are critical to helping people around the world take their next steps toward Jesus? To effectively reach a whole nation, mission-essential roles need to be in place, like finance, information technology, event planning, marketing, and creative design.

Come for the adventure, stay for the mission. New Zealand is world renowned as the “adventure capital of the world” and as the setting of the Lord of the Rings movies, but it is also the epicenter of Cru’s ministry to the Pacific Island Nations. People in nations like Fiji, Vanuatu, and Papua New Guinea are open and responsive to the Gospel and believers from these countries can more easily access countries in the Open Window partnership than western believers.

Join this operations focused internship team and work in Cru’s office in Auckland, New Zealand alongside New Zealand staff while serving the ministries throughout the Pacific Islands.

Application deadline is March 1, more info in link in bio.

“I am so grateful. It was so stretching, but the things that God taught me, the relationships built with local staff, teammates and students, and the learned beauty of another culture are things I will cherish for a long time. I pray God will grant others the same opportunity to go . . . and that many would say yes in faith!”
- Elim, global intern

We are ordinary people making sense of life in light of Jesus. When we see God working in another person’s life, it helps us recognize him working in our own.

Meet Sarah! She wrote about seeing God in her neighbourhood and trusting him as she prepares for a mission trip:

“I’ve been on a long journey of healing from depression and burnout. As I grow in health, God is helping me re-engage, even when it’s risky. He’s giving me opportunities to “lean in” and to be open to him, rather than to be passive.

Here’s a specific example. Last week as I sat at my desk, I heard someone wailing. At first I thought it was a baby because it was so loud. But when I looked out my window, I saw a woman sobbing as she walked down the middle of my street. Based on her appearance, she was probably homeless.

I see people in need all the time. But the sound of this particular woman’s open weeping hit me in a special way, even though she wasn’t directly asking me for help. I felt a deep compassion that must have been from God. I confess that so often I’m callous towards the characters I see in my neighbourhood. I was aware of God’s compassion for her—and that he might be leading me to respond to her tears.

In hindsight I also recognize that this encounter may be the Holy Spirit preparing me to engage this summer with the reality of homelessness. I’m co-directing the PRAXIS Edmonton mission trip with P2C and this will be an intensive opportunity to engage with marginalized communities.”
