Whether you're balancing work, parenting, shift schedules, health concerns, or living outside the Fraser Valley, online counselling makes it easier to access the support you need.

At Doing Family Right, our online sessions offer the same compassionate, professional, and faith-informed care as our in-person appointments, all from the comfort of your own space.

For many women, one question seems to surface again and again: "Who am I?"

In this week's reel, DFR counsellor Merri Ellen Giesbrecht shares one of the most common themes she encounters with female clients: identity confusion.

As life changes, so do the roles we carry. Some seasons fit naturally, while others require us to wear a hat that may not feel like our ultimate calling or sweet spot. And that's okay.

Merri Ellen creates space for women to explore who they are, recognize the season they're in, and trust God's faithfulness through every chapter of their journey.

You don't have to have it all figured out.
You don't need to feel guilty for where you are today.
And you don't have to navigate these questions alone.

Give yourself grace. Trust the process. Trust God's promises.

At Doing Family Right, we care deeply about building a counselling team that reflects compassion, wisdom, and a genuine heart for people.

We are grateful to welcome Bailey Tonn to the DFR counselling team, along with counselling interns Janessa Neufeld and Brendan Van Beek.

Bailey works with individuals and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, addiction, relationship challenges, and life transitions, helping clients move toward healing, freedom, and deeper connection.

Janessa brings a relational and client-centred approach to supporting children, youth, and adults through mental health concerns, grief, and loss.

Brendan is passionate about supporting neurodiverse individuals and families with compassion, encouragement, and practical care.

We are thankful for the growing team at DFR who continue serving our communities with wisdom, compassion, and Christ-centred care.

What makes Doing Family Right different?

In this week’s reel, Dr. Dave Currie shares the foundation that anchors everything we do at DFR: the transforming difference Jesus makes in a person’s life.

While our counsellors bring professional experience, practical tools, and compassionate care, we believe true healing and lasting change ultimately come from God working within us.

At Doing Family Right, faith is not an “add-on” to counselling. It is woven into the heart of how we care for individuals, couples, and families.

Jesus is the real Counsellor. We simply have the privilege of walking alongside people as He brings hope, healing, wisdom, and restoration.

If you’re looking for counselling that integrates professional care with biblical truth, we’re here to help.

You are not alone in this journey.

• Faith and recovery
• Rekindling intimacy and connection

What gives your life meaning?

DFR counsellor Rachelle Siemens shares how spiritual health is deeply connected to our overall wellbeing. When we ignore the spiritual side of our lives, we can often feel disconnected, restless, or lacking purpose.

Spiritual health is more than routine or religion. It speaks to the deeper questions of who we are, why we’re here, and what anchors us through life’s challenges.

When we intentionally care for our spiritual health, it impacts every other area of life.

At Doing Family Right, we believe strong communities are built through strong relationships.

That’s why we’re committed to being deeply rooted in the Fraser Valley community through our Care Centres in Abbotsford and Chilliwack. Every day, we seek to live out the values that shape who we are and how we care for others.

We believe life is relationships.
We believe every person has value and purpose.
We believe strong families matter.
We believe people can grow, heal, and move forward.
And above all, we believe our relationship with God impacts every other relationship in our lives.

Whether you’re walking through a difficult season, investing in your marriage, strengthening your family, or simply looking for support, our heart is to serve our communities with compassion, truth, and care.

Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you!

Starting therapy for the first time can feel intimidating.

What if it’s awkward?
What if it’s not the right fit?
What if I don’t know where to start?

DFR counsellor Anna Brotzel shares a simple but powerful perspective from one of her mentors:

“Counsellors are like jeans… sometimes you need to try a few to find the right fit.”

The important thing is taking the first step. You don’t have to have it all figured out before reaching out for support.

When was the last time you paused to reflect on your marriage?

Many couples in the busyness of life forget to regularly pause and reflect on how they’re really doing, individually and together.

The Marital Attribute Assessment is a practical way to do just that.

It walks through key qualities that shape a healthy, meaningful marriage, helping you consider where things are strong and where there may be room to grow.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about awareness, honesty, and moving forward together.

What if success at work is costing you at home?

In this week’s reel, Dr. Dave shares a perspective many don’t realize until later: even meaningful work and ministry can slowly take the place of the relationships that matter most.

Healthy relationships require intentional limits.
On your time.
On your energy.
On what gets your best.

At the end of the day, the people closest to you matter most.
