The Millard Learning Centre will be CLOSED Sunday, November 8 - Sunday, November 15, due to hunting in preparation for the upcoming Feed the People 2026 workshop. This public closure is in accordance with the GCA's First Nations Deer Hunting Policy.

Drop-in restoration volunteer day is this Friday, October 23rd, at 9:30! We will be planting native species in the newly restored wetlands at Beaver Creek in the Pebble Beach Nature Reserve. Come get your hands dirty, check out the new wetlands, and be part of restoring this incredible ecosystem as a community!

🌿Meet at the Pebble Beach parking lot at 9:30AM
🥾Gloves, tools, and refreshments will be provided. Bring a packed lunch if you plan on staying through noon!
🐸Dress for mud! Gumboots and layers recommended.

Another GCA Fall Plant Sale spotlight! Beaked Hazelnut is a native species of hazelnut that enjoys open forest, meadows, and thickets, and can reach about 4 meters tall. The nuts are delicious and can be eaten raw or roasted! The GCA's annual fall plant sale will be on October 10th from 10am to 2pm, at the Millard Learning Centre (10825 Porlier Pass Rd).

The Cable Bay Trail will be closed to the public from October 5 to 9 for trail upgrades, logging road removal, and restoration treatments. Heavy machinery will be present on District Lot 63 of the Pebble Beach Reserve during this time, and the Cable Bay Trail from the trailhead down to the coastline will be closed to pedestrians, without exception.

Both the upland and coast trails on the Qw'xwulwis - Cable Bay Conservation Area may also be closed for a shorter 1-2 day period during the same week.

Trail closures will be clearly marked at trail entrances, and a GCA representative will be present at the Pebble Beach trailhead to help redirect visitors.

The Great Beaver Swamp and Pebble Beach trails on Crown Lot DL 60 will remain open during this time, and limited parking will continue to be available at the Pebble Beach trailhead for hikers accessing Pebble Beach via DL 60.

Plant Sale Spotlight: Cooley’s Hedge-nettle, also referred to as Stachys, is a native rhizomatous herb with soft leaves and attractive pink flowers! This nettle is pollinated by hummingbirds, does not sting, and thrives in wet meadows and disturbed areas. Cooley’s Hedge-nettle will be on sale 3 for the price of 1 at the GCA’s annual fall plant sale on October 10th, from 10am to 2pm at the Millard Learning Centre, 10825 Porlier Pass Rd!
