In case you missed it, this past Friday the restoration team celebrated International Make a Difference Week at the Quadra Hill Nature Reserve. After discussing the restoration efforts at Quadra Hill during the past couple years, the team worked on forest restoration and ecological fuel management. This involved pulling down a Douglas-fir tree using a chain hoist system, managing fuel materials and creating conservation burn piles for biochar generation in the fall.
If you’re interested in getting involved, join us on the second and third Fridays of each month for similar ecological restoration projects. They are educational, fun, and productive in supporting our islands’ ecosystems.
