Meet the 2026 Musical Walkalong Performers! 🎶

Jeanne Erickson is a West Coast artist whose paintings celebrate the landscapes of Galiano Island and the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia. Working in acrylic and oil, she captures the spirit of windswept shorelines, sculptural arbutus and Garry Oaks, ancient sandstone and the ever changing light that defines the coast. An exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, Jeanne presents annual solo exhibitions on Galiano Island, and her work can be found in galleries, shops, cafes, hotels and private collections throughout British Columbia and beyond. Rather than painting people, Jeanne paints the places where our stories unfold. Through her work, she invites viewers to slow down, experience the quiet wisdom of nature, and discover the wonder, resilience and sense of belonging found in the landscapes that shape our lives.

Meet the 2026 Musical Walkalong Performers! 🎶

Sheila Anderson is a former GCA Director and Chair and a continuing volunteer and member. As a long time resident of Galiano Island, she has always felt inspired by and appreciative of the natural beauty here. Since retiring, she has enjoyed revisiting her earlier life interest in drawing and painting. She explores various mediums and techniques. Her most recent works have been done using water mixable oils. She loves trying to capture visual impressions of this wonderful island while learning and practicing painting skills, and is thrilled to have been invited to be an artist in the GCA’s Walk Along this year.

Meet the 2026 Musical Walkalong Performers! 🎶

Mary Greenwood has been playing musical instruments since she was 5 years old - starting on piano, progressing to flute, and baritone saxophone in jazz band while she grew big enough to play bass. She started double bass when she was 14 and has played ever since. She graduated from UBC Music on double bass but chose Librarianship as a profession. She took up cello about 1993 and immersed herself in it through to 2018. She has played in community jazz and concert bands, wind symphonies, and orchestras on bass and cello in various towns she has lived in. Mary is a qualified BC teacher and taught music privately and in public schools for 30 years. In 2020, she began playing the lever harp. The harp combines the ability to play harmony with the resonant tone of strings combined with wood.
