As the school year wraps up, many families are reflecting on the people who helped children feel supported, encouraged, and honoured this year. Whether it was a teacher, caregiver, mentor, elder or guide, these relationships leave a lasting impact.

You can recognize their care with a gift to the Raffi Foundation for Child Honouring, made in honour of that unique educator in your child’s life.

It’s a thoughtful way to say “thank you” while supporting programs that nurture children
with respect, compassion, and connection.

Laurel Collins, our Executive Director, recently spoke about the upcoming Digital Safety Act Bill. The link to the CFAX interview is in the comments.

The Raffi Foundation for Child Honouring welcomes the inclusion of a social media age minimum of 16 in the upcoming Digital Safety Act.

Laurel says, "Parents, physicians, researchers, and advocates have been sounding the alarm about the documented harms of social media on children's mental health and development for years. This bill is a chance to act, and we need lawmakers to understand the urgency. Every year that passes without age minimums in place is another year of a kid's life without the protection they deserve."

Raffi says, “The way we treat children shapes the world that we all live in. That’s why it’s so important that we pass this law.”

There is a growing movement calling for online child and youth safety legislation in Canada.

Add your name to our Write Your Representative page for stronger protections for children and youth: https://win.newmode.net/raffifoundationforchildhonouring/protectourchildrenbansocialmediaforkidsunder16-4

We already protect children in the physical world: with road safety regulations, seatbelts and driver education. "Digital safety demands the same comprehensive approach for child safety: age guardrails, platform accountability, and digital literacy." ~Unplugged Canada

It's time for Canada to join countries like Norway, France, UK and Australia that are advancing or implementing age minimums and regulations.

Join the Raffi Foundation for Child Honouring and Unplugged Canada in calling on federal and provincial governments to protect our kids. Write to your representative today on our page!
