Violence exists in our community—and IWAV is here to help.

Sometimes people reach out because something doesn’t feel right, even if they don’t know exactly how to describe it.

Maybe you feel unsure in your relationship.
Maybe you’re walking on eggshells.
Maybe you’re trying to figure out your options or don’t know who to talk to.

You do not need to have the “right words” or be certain about what’s happening to reach out.

IWAV Outreach Services offers free and confidential support for women—including trans women—as well as non-binary and LGBTQ+ community members across Salt Spring Island and the Southern Gulf Islands. We also support caregivers seeking help for children and youth.

Today is Moose Hide Campaign Day. 🧡

The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement to end violence against women, children, and all those along the gender continuum. It began with Indigenous men and boys standing up to take action against gender-based violence and to support safer communities for everyone.

At IWAV, we believe violence prevention is the responsibility of all of us. Today is an opportunity to reflect, learn, have conversations, and recommit to building communities grounded in respect, safety, and care.

We’re now 85% of the way to our goal for Norton Road, with $425,000 left! We have until February 12, 2026 to raise the full purchase price.

Since 2015, IWAV has managed Croftonbrook, originally a 20-unit affordable housing community. As the housing crisis deepened, IWAV expanded the site through a two-phase development, adding 54 new affordable rental homes for seniors, families, and working Islanders.

Croftonbrook stands as a testament to IWAV’s determination and ability to turn vision into reality. That same determination is guiding the Norton Road project, which aims to provide safe, affordable homes and expand our support services.

In 2024-25, IWAV’s work reached hundreds of people across the Southern Gulf Islands affected by poverty, violence, and abuse:
• 457 calls answered on the 24/7 Crisis Line
• 50+ women and children found refuge at the Transition House
• 15 families began rebuilding at The Cedars Second-Stage Housing
• 150 women and children received counselling and support
• At Croftonbrook, 76 adults, 15 children, and 24 pets live safely in affordable homes

Please consider joining your neighbours and friends who are making this possible. You can see all our supporters so far here: https://tinyurl.com/5ccst8m2
