💚 This World Mental Health Day, let’s make sure every voice is heard.

This year’s theme, *“Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,”* reminds us that people with lived experience must have a say in shaping the mental health support and services that affect their lives.

At Edmonton Newcomer Centre, we believe strong, inclusive communities start with listening, understanding, and making space for every voice. Together, we can challenge stigma, strengthen connections, and help build a community where everyone feels supported.

Fire Prevention Week: Lithium-Ion Battery Safety

During Fire Prevention Week, the Edmonton Newcomer Centre and our Joint Health & Safety Committee partnered with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, Waste Management and Eco Stations to host an informative session for staff and clients on lithium-ion battery safety.

A special thank you to Caryn Levert, Fire Prevention Officer, and Melissa Fournier from Eco Station, along with their teams, for sharing valuable fire prevention and battery disposal information with our community.

From phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools, lithium-ion batteries are part of our everyday lives. Remember to charge safely, use approved chargers, and never put batteries or e-waste in household garbage or recycling bins.

Thank you everyone who helped make this important learning session possible!

We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for being part of our community and for helping newcomers thrive.
