This week, we celebrate the strength, wisdom, and contributions of older adults across Alberta — and the dedicated people who walk alongside them every day.

At this year’s Called to Care Conference, one message came through clearly: seniors deserve more than care. They deserve connection, dignity, compassion, laughter, purpose, and environments that truly feel like home.

From innovative building design and wellness-focused spaces to stronger family partnerships and compassionate care teams, continuing care is evolving in meaningful ways.

Our member organizations have been supporting seniors for generations, and we’re proud to continue shaping a future where aging is met with respect, belonging, and quality of life.

This week marks Alberta Rural Health Week! CHAA’s non-profit member organizations operate 275 sites across this great province – mostly in rural areas. We’re incredibly proud of our 83 year history and the dedicated rural health professionals and volunteers who make it happen!

CHAA congratulates Honourable Nathan Neudorf on his appointment as Alberta’s new Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services. We look forward to working together to support high-quality, compassionate continuing care for Albertans across the province.

We also extend our thanks to outgoing ALSS Minister Jason Nixon for his leadership and service, and we look forward to working with him in his new role as Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board.

It was wonderful to have you join us at the Called to Care Conference 2026. Thank you to every speaker, sponsor, attendee, and volunteer who made this conference exceptional. We hope you left feeling inspired - with new ideas, meaningful connections, moments of laughter, and perhaps even a few heartfelt tears along the way.

This year’s theme, Courage and Compassion: The Currency of Care, reminded us that the most meaningful work in health and community care is built on human connection, empathy, resilience, and the courage to continue showing up for others each day. We hope the stories, conversations, and shared experiences throughout the conference renewed and encouraged you in the important work you do.

Our theme of Courage and Compassion came alive today — in every session, every conversation, and every connection made. We were honoured to welcome a special address from Minister Nixon, and the room felt every word.
