Birthday buoy hunting with a side of surveying on Long Island is what I chose to do for the first part of my day. Next up is a different sort of treasure hunting. Can you guess what it will be?

I found SO MANY buoys to bring home and had to leave so, so much behind. There are a few catches of debris in this area and I have a plan of how to get them cleaned up!

The most common items I saw on my hike from Boars Head Lighthouse to Little Bear Cove were plastic bottles and containers, buoys, polystyrene (some GIANT pieces), fish bins and lots of rope stuck in big rocks.

The day started with a clean up and ended with a rope repurpose workshop. We had over 20 folks join us at the churchpointsocialclub to make lots of rope creations.

The possibilities with rope are endless! Coasters, trivets, bowls, placemats and more. All of the rope we are using is reclaimed from the sea or "End-of-Life" rope.

??? What do we mean by "End-of-Life" rope??? Every so often, fishers must lifecycle rope to ensure their fishing gear isn't lost. Rope that looks great to us as crafters, is not something you want to hang thousands of dollars of traps from because it breaks down over time and becomes weaker.

Which creation do you like the best? We had such a creative group tonight that I can't pick just one!

Eddie and I are on our way to the beach clean up at Meteghan Centre Beach! We wil be joined by many of the other South West Nova Scotia Team Leads and the community of Clare!

We have bags, gloves and the knowledge to divert most of what we pick up! A huge thank you to the Municipality of Clare for lending us their dumpster.

This is a family friendly clean up, but please make sure to wear close toed shoes as there is a lot of rusty metal in the area.

Another clean upon the Sissiboo River ❤️ I told my boys we would get just ONE BAG! So I got my BIGGEST BAG!

I focused on plastics this time and there is still lots more to get. Maybe next time!

Tomorrow, we are DOUBLE BOOKED! Lucky for me, I did it on purpose and am looking forward to attending both events ❤️

We were asked to come join in the first annual Festival de Coques this year and host a beach clean up! OF COURSE we said yes! We are hoping for some good weather tomorrow 🙏 and lots of helpers. Meet us at Meteghan Centre Beach from 2pm to 4pm. We have bags and gloves to use! (COME ONE, COME ALL!)

After the clean up, I'll be scooting over to the Church Point Social Club to host a rope repurpose workshop. This is an ADULTS ONLY workshop. All materials will be provided, but please feel free to bring any rope that you want to use or share ❤️ Maybe, you could use a piece of rope found during our clean up! (THIS EVENT IS FULL)

Do you see what I see?! THAT'S RIGHT! A completely, based app for Scotian Shores !

We've been wanting to do this for a long time and with a lot of brainstorming, trials, and teamwork, we figured it out ❤️ It is currently only available for Android operating systems.

What is in our App:
🌊 Up to date, almost LIVE, clean up data specific to Nova Scotia
🌊 Links to our socials, websites and shop!
🦞 The lobster band concentration map
🌊 A REALLY easy way to report your clean ups

Happy dance! ❤️

We stormed the shores of Dartmouth with one of our newest sponsors - GameMode One! Together, we removed 275 pounds of marine debris.

The most common items were polystyrene, film plastics and shock tube. Most interesting were a car seat, an army man and a heart ring, which I am keeping.

I think it's really awesome that this business has decided to not only sponsor our efforts financially, but also brought a crew of almost thirty people to physically make a difference, too!!!

THANKS GAME ONE!
