WE'RE READY! Pennant Point Clean Up 2026

Thank you to EVERYONE who has been a part of this clean up. It was a hard one! But oh so Satisfying!

Another 1200 pounds of marine debris has been removed from the shorelines of Annapolis County!

We had such a fantastic turnout today for our clean up! Thanks to everyone who came out, put in the HARD work, and helped leave the coast so much cleaner than we found it.

What we found & hauled out today:
🌊 Hundreds of pounds of old rope
🌊 Mixed plastics, like fish bins, escape hatches, plastic strapping, bleach containers, buckets, plastic bottles, lobster trap tags & food containers
🌊 Too many oil containers
🦞 Lobster Bands... here they come 😞

A massive shoutout to the local landowner who not only granted us access to this site, but also lent a hand transporting all that heavy marine debris from the shoreline entrance right to our sorting station. We couldn't have managed it without that support! 🚜💪 There is a serious amount of debris on these shorelines!

And to the kids who joined us today ❤️ You were absolute superstars! 🌟 Your energy, hard work, and sharp eyes made a huge difference.

Thank you to every single person who showed up, got dirty, and worked so hard today. Every piece of debris out of the ocean matters!

We are hosting another clean up today in Annapolis County!

We have bags and gloves, PLUS!!! A dumpster! This is a stretch of shoreline that doesn't often see many folks. It is hard to get to without private access (which we have) and the terrain is a bit challenging.

Over the past couple of days, the Scotian Shores Ocean Warriors cleaned roughly 12 kilometers of remote shoreline around Pennant Point. It was tough, grueling work, but the results speak for themselves.

Because of the extreme location, packing this out by foot wasn't an option. Instead, we worked hard to pack and stage everything right on site:

📦 24 full supersacks packed and ready to fly

🌊 17 large tires gathered

Everything is prepped and ready for the incoming helicopter lift this November!

Huge shoutout to the amazing crew who gave it their all over the last two days. It takes serious dedication to haul and stage this volume of waste in places trucks can't reach. Now it's time to rest up! 🌊💪

This is what we will be cleaning up today: The West side of Pennant Point!

There is lots of plastics, fish bins and styrofoam on the list. A lot of the lobster traps have already been made ready, but there are always a few more hiding.

Be at the Crystal Crescent entrance for 10am! This is where we will be giving instructions and safety briefings for the day, handing out bags and it's a good time to meet the crew. Fingers crossed for another super successful day ❤️

Day one of the Pennant Point Clean Up was a huge success! There's a helicopter coming, so we are working hard to get as much debris prepared as we can!

We cleaned the entire East side of the point today and filled another five supersacks of debris. We also prepared 17 large tires for liftoff! These tires would have been used as wharf bumpers many years ago. We can confirm the tires have been out there for almost two decades and came ashore between 2003 and 2009 by referencing historic satellite images. And! These tires were quite a ways back from the shoreline, so it must have been a powerful storm!

We are headed out again tomorrow (10am-4pm *Meet at entrance to Crystal Crescent) for another beauty day to make a positive difference on the shore. We are bringing another 15 supersacks to fill and hope to have lots of help coming!

***150 000lbs***

Its official, we have passed 150K lbs in 2026. Fun fact, this is our fifth striaght year passing this milestone. Another big accomplishment is passing 1800 cleanups reported. AMAZING!!!!!

This weekend the team will at Pennant Point near the Halifax region Friday and Saturday. RSVP [email protected] to be included. On Sunday find us at Hampton in the Annapolis region

Eddie and I headed into town for the Divert NS Mobius Awards!

We are so excited to spend the evening surrounded by incredible people and organizations celebrating waste diversion excellence across Nova Scotia. Keeping our shorelines clean and waste out of the environment takes a community, and we can’t wait to help celebrate everyone across making a difference tonight - whether it's land or sea!

We decided to stop for some treasures (mission accomplished!) AND we are super excited for tomorrow and Saturdays clean up at Pennant Point!

I am a sucker for side missions!!!

Tonight's side mission brought me to Canada Creek where a tire wall has been slowly eroding out. We try to keep an eye on it so the tires don't escape to the sea. Tonight one was free so I grabbed it

These tire (and lobster trap) walls that are facing the ocean - do not work. They get eroded out and more debris is released. It's better to contact folks like Rosmarie Lohnes to find ways to naturally try and save your property... like driftwood walls! And native plants.
