Celebrating Morgan Trombley, recipient of the SMHF 2026 Medical Scholarship and CBMC's Class of 2030! 🎉🎊❣️

The Cape Breton Medical Campus welcomed a second group of medical students to the Sydney campus this week.

CBMC’s Class of 2030, comprised of 30 future family doctors, has the distinction of being the first students to begin their studies in Cape Breton University’s new Medical Sciences Building.

Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation Hosts 6th Annual Scholarship Presentation

The 6th Annual Scholarship Presentation by Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation was held on Thursday 13 August 2026 on the Veterans Patio at Soldiers Memorial Hospital.

The Foundation awarded a total of $4000 to support four outstanding medical students from the Mid Valley region catchment area. Each recipient received a $1000 Medical Scholarship to help advance their medical and emergency care training.The 2026 Awards included one Physician Scholarship, one Nursing Scholarship and two Paramedicine Scholarships.

There is no doubt that health care is a calling! We are so fortunate to have so many amazing women and men on the front lines delivering health care services for Nova Scotians! Today, after 34 years, one of the best walked out of Soldiers Memorial retired! Our family is so proud of this incredible, hardworking wife, mother and grandmother and someone more dedicated to her patients than most professionals! Congratulations Mrs Palmer, you deserve a well deserved rest!!❤️
