🌞 CORAH Summertime Social: Our Hottest Event of the Year 🌞

Our CORAH Summertime Social was a huge success! We welcomed 84 participants and partners from across Annapolis and Kings counties to celebrate our vibrant community and the impact we’ve made together—serving thousands of older adults this past year!

Guests heard updates on CORAH’s growth, with over 500 sessions held for 9,000+ participants locally this year, and more than 60,000 participants across 220 rural communities over the past six years, which includes all three CORAH - NSCC Campus sites!

The day was filled with fun and connection—games, musical trivia and tunes from Wendy Hardman, cake and refreshments, and plenty of time to mix, mingle and enjoy each other's company!

A special highlight was celebrating participant Ethelyn Mosher’s upcoming 100th birthday with a standing ovation! 🎉

Guests and Welcome Remarks included Evan Fairn on behalf of Chris d'Entremont, David Bowlby - Annapolis MLA sharing remarks on behalf of Minister Barbara Adams NS Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care NS Seniors, Chris Palmer, Kings West MLA , and Mayor Gail Smith Town Of Middleton

We say thank you to our incredible community, volunteers, partners and supporters—including NSCC and the Province of Nova Scotia Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care—for making this work possible. 💜

The sun was shining, the smiles were plenty, and it was a perfect event to wrap up the CORAH program year, before we take a short break over the summer! 🍓

Enjoy the photos!🌞

A big thank you to Macdonald Museum Director Claire Grazette and Chloe Shackelton, organizer of the heART of the Valley Artist & Artisan Show & Sale, for their warm welcome to our CORAH group this afternoon!

We were inspired by the incredible exhibits and activities happening at the museum! The heART Show, now in its third year, was especially impressive—featuring 127 pieces from 104 talented artists, all exploring the theme “Water is Life.”

If you haven’t yet visited the Macdonald Museum, be sure to add it to your summer plans! There are so many unique displays and activities to enjoy—including an upcoming Strawberry Shortcake Bakeoff competition 🍓

Jane White inspired us with a beautiful exploration of colour in her latest presentation, 'For the Love of Flowers'. She took us on a journey through the stunning blooms and foliage of Middleton Wetlands, along with highlights from BC’s Butchart Gardens and Abkhazi Garden.

It was a gentle reminder to pause and appreciate nature’s beauty—taking time to see, smell, and truly enjoy the flowers around us. 🌸

Thank you, Jane, for such an uplifting, sensory experience—perfect for spring and summer!💜

CORAH Loops & Laughs Rug Hookers have been creating some truly beautiful pieces! Many are preparing their projects for the upcoming Annapolis Valley Exhibition, where they’ll be displayed alongside other talented rug hookers and local groups.

Rug hooking provides a variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional benefits—but what participants love most about the group is the creativity and connection it brings. 💜
