A Home for Hooves Farm Sanctuary We provide a forever home for rescued farm animals who have been abandoned, seized by the S.P.C.A., or surrendered due to various circumstances.

We are a volunteer run, registered Charity organisation in Duncan BC, that offers a forever home for rescued farm animals who are abandoned, seized by the S.P.C.A., or surrendered due to various circumstances. Our Sanctuary was founded in September 2017 and we are the first and only Farm Sanctuary in Canada to be Accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. We currently care for near

ly 200 residents including pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, horses, donkeys, chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, peafowl, dogs, guinea pigs, and cats. We ensure all our animals are provided with the best quality care and a safe home where they are able to live out their natural lives. We aim to advance education by providing workshops, seminars, classes, and presentations on animal practices, rescue, and care. In early 2019 we began an adoption and foster program to place healthy and well-suited, non-farm animals in safe and loving homes. Our Sanctuary provides a forever home for farm animals who are older, are difficult to place, have diverse needs, have behavioural issues, or require long term medical intervention. Our volunteers help us with the everyday care of the animals, social media, graphic design, fundraising, newsletter writing, and event planning, and ensure the animals are well cared for and our organisation runs smoothly. We would also like to acknowledge that our Sanctuary is located within the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Quw'utsun Nation, near the traditional village of Ts'alha'um.

Yesterday, we had to say an unexpected goodbye to our sweet and gentle Chico.

Chico had been in our care for nearly five years and was approximately 17–18 years old. If you ever had the privilege of meeting him, you would know just how special he was. He was the definition of calm and easygoing, a goat who simply took life as it came and was happy to go with the flow.

His brother, Miguel, has always been a bit more spirited, and Chico was truly the yin to Miguel's yang. The two shared an incredible bond, and Miguel was fiercely protective of his brother. It is heartbreaking to see him now without his lifelong best friend by his side.

Losing an animal is never easy. It is one of the hardest realities of running a farm sanctuary. But when we look back on Chico's life, we find comfort in knowing that he lived to an old age and, thankfully, only experienced one truly bad day. As difficult as it is to say goodbye, that is the kindest ending we can hope for for the animals we love.

It was an absolute honor to care for this handsome boy. His gentle presence, kind nature, and quiet companionship will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Hello friends,
It's me, Sawyer.

I've been spending my days enjoying the sunshine, nibbling fresh grass, and exploring every corner of the sanctuary. But as summer gets closer, there's something important on my mind.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting a warmer-than-normal summer across much of the country, and experts expect heat to build as the season progresses.
For us animals, hot summer days mean one thing: clean, fresh water matters more than ever.

Summer is just around the corner, and we're working hard to make sure our rescued animals stay comfortable, healthy, and happy during the warmer months.

Join us on Saturday, June 27 for an elegant afternoon of tea, treats, and compassion while helping us raise funds for important summer infrastructure projects across the sanctuary.

One of our featured projects is the installation of small pond pumps for our ducks and goose ponds. These pumps help keep water circulating, cleaner, fresher, and healthier for the animals who rely on it every day.

Another project is the renewal of the waterers for our chickens who need fresh water during hot weather, every improvement helps us provide the best possible care for our sanctuary residents.

Did you know that Mickey and I were already best friends before we arrived? And it didn't take long for us to become friends with Eddie too. These days, the three of us are inseparable. You'll often find us grazing together, relaxing in the pasture, or enjoying the sunshine. I especially love fresh grass and I am known for grooming Eddie whenever I get the chance.
