NEW EVENT: At a moment of heightened economic and geopolitical uncertainty, how are leading institutional investors thinking about capital allocation? With perspectives from Canada and the United States, this discussion will examine how portfolios are being positioned in a more fragmented and less predictable global environment, highlighting where capital is moving and what that signals for the economic outlook ahead.

Join Canadian Club Toronto on June 16 to hear from senior investment leaders as they explore the balance between risk and opportunity across public and private markets, and how long-term strategies are evolving in response.

NEW EVENT: As part of our annual Pride celebration, join us for a lively conversation on the evolution of LGBTQ+ storytelling in film and television.

From groundbreaking stories like Schitt’s Creek, Sort Of, and Wildhood to a new generation of q***r narratives reaching global audiences, LGBTQ+ representation on screen has transformed dramatically over the past two decades. But as visibility grows, important questions remain around authenticity, inclusion, and who gets to tell these stories.

Join Canadian Club Toronto on June 8 for a panel discussion exploring how q***r narratives have evolved from the margins to the mainstream, the cultural impact of that shift, and what’s next for storytelling. Moderated by Judy Lung, Vice President, Strategy, Communications & Stakeholder Relations, TIFF, the discussion will feature insights from:

- Damon D’Oliveira – Producer and Partner, Conquering Lion Pictures
- Peter Knegt – Writer, Filmmaker, and Award-winning CBC Arts Producer and Journalist
- Michelle Mama – Award-winning Filmmaker, Producer, and Founder of GAY AGENDA

In honour of National Volunteer Week, we’re taking a moment to recognize the people who make our work possible.

Our events don’t come together by accident. An incredible group of volunteers behind the scenes builds our events with dedication, care, and professionalism.

To our student and young professional volunteers, thank you. Your time, energy, and attention to detail are what make each Canadian Club Toronto event run seamlessly. You show up, step in, and make it happen.

To our volunteer Board of Directors: Thank you for your leadership, your insight, and your dedication to excellence. You continue to shape our direction and strengthen Canadian Club Toronto as the place where Canada’s most important conversations take the stage.

We couldn’t do this without you.

NEW EVENT: Join Canadian Club Toronto on May 11 for a timely and thought-provoking discussion on nation-building projects, featuring Mark Maki, President and CEO of Trans Mountain Corporation, and Elizabeth Wademan, President and CEO of Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDEV).

Completed in May 2024, the Trans Mountain expansion tripled capacity on Canada’s only crude oil pipeline to Pacific tidewater. Spanning more than 1,180 kilometres from Alberta to British Columbia’s coast, it stands as one of the most significant and complex infrastructure projects in modern Canadian history. Today, over 65 percent of shipments from the West Coast go to Asia, opening important new markets for Canadian oil.

CDEV operates at the intersection of public policy and private markets, serving as the federal government’s active asset manager and financial advisor, with oversight of more than $75 billion in assets and initiatives, including Trans Mountain.

Mark and Elizabeth will explore how the expansion is reshaping Canada’s position as an energy superpower—strengthening trade relationships, particularly across Asia, and enhancing long-term competitiveness, energy security, and economic resilience in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment.

As Canada enters a new phase of energy and infrastructure development, this discussion will focus on what it takes and what comes next.

Happy Earth Month! This year, we’re pleased to highlight our partnership with Canada’s Forest Trust Corporation. To date, we’ve planted 1,250 trees, estimated to sequester 177,482 KG carbon over their lifetime. This is equivalent to 197 cars driving 15,000 KM per year.
We’re continuing to do our part to create a more equitable future for all.

NEW EVENT: Artificial intelligence is no longer just a technology investment—it is a strategic one. The organizations pulling ahead are not those with the most advanced models, but those making deliberate decisions about their data: how it is governed, where it resides, and how it is used.

Join Canadian Club Toronto on May 13, when Tom Jenkins, Chair of OpenText and one of Canada’s leading voices on enterprise data and AI, examines what it takes to move from AI experimentation to real ex*****on.

Drawing on his work in Enterprise Artificial Intelligence and the newly released The Agentic AI Genome, Jenkins will explore how leading organizations are redesigning workflows, treating data as a strategic asset, and building the governance required to deploy AI with confidence. This discussion will also consider the broader implications for Canada. Decisions around data infrastructure, sovereignty, and partnerships are no longer technical—they are central to national competitiveness. Mr. Jenkins will be joined in conversation by John Stackhouse, SVP, RBC.
