We are Canada’s fifth inclusive rugby union club based on a foundation in not just inclusivity on the pitch but proactively developing outreach initiatives.

Rainbow Griffins Rugby Football Club develops the sport of rugby for Torontonians regardless of their age, gender, sexuality, or any other obstacles they may face. Our singular objective is to emulate the very definition of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual preferences, cultural background, socioeconomics, religion, or education.

Pride is a time for joy, but at its heart, it will always be about community, resilience, and belonging. 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ ✨

As Rainbow Griffins, we enter this month with gratitude for the generations who fought before us to build spaces where 2SLGBTQIA+ people could gather, play, lead, and live safely. None of us got here alone.

We know visibility is a privilege. For those who can be out safely, your presence matters. For those who are not there yet, or who are still scared of being exactly who they are, community matters too. You do not have to carry that weight alone.

As rugby spaces around the world become more restrictive, especially for our transgender community, our commitment remains clear. We will keep working to protect rugby spaces where people are welcomed fully and able to experience the game without leaving any part of themselves behind.

We are proud Canadians, and we are grateful to , , and for continuing to stand with rugby for all.

Whether you are on the pitch, in the stands, or finding your own way, you have a home with the Griffins.

If you’re looking to try a new fitness activity and find an incredible community, the Rainbow Griffins RFC are calling you to the pitch for Try Rugby Day!

It’s all about high energy, maximum fun, and no-contact. It’s the perfect way to learn the game and get moving without the hits. No experience needed, just willingness to jump into the game!

Today is Trans Day of Visibility, we recognize that being seen is an act of courage that requires a community of support to back it up. 🏳️‍⚧️

In a climate where international committees and governing bodies are actively sidelining trans people and gender-diverse athletes, we refuse to stay silent. Grassroots rugby is where the true fight for inclusion happens. It is where policy meets the pitch, and where we prove that sport is better when everyone is allowed to show up as their full selves.

Visibility without action is hollow. That’s why we’re committed to protecting the space our trans members occupy; ensuring our club culture, from the scrum to the social, is built on respect, safety, and real advocacy.

In a world that often asks you to hide, we are here to ensure you can stand tall.

Healthcare, not harm.🏳️‍⚧️

Across the U.S. and Canada, governments are moving to restrict or criminalize gender-affirming care for trans youth. In the United States, lawmakers are advancing bans on medically recommended care. In Canada, provinces like Alberta have passed laws limiting access to care and overriding Charter protections.

This matters because gender-affirming care is evidence-based, carefully provided by medical professionals, and linked to better mental health outcomes for trans youth. When this care is denied, risk increases.

As a club built on inclusion and community, we believe healthcare decisions belong with families, doctors, and trans youth, not politicians.

Four Years of Inclusive Rugby 🏳️‍🌈🏉

This month, the Rainbow Griffins celebrate four incredible years of inclusive rugby!

In that time, over 100 Griffins have proudly worn our colours, we’ve hosted two Rainbow Cups, and we pioneered Canada’s first 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion training with a special focus on transgender inclusion, welcoming over 90 participants to learn, share, and grow the game together.

Thank you to every player, volunteer, and supporter, past and present, who’s helped build this community. A special shoutout to our sponsors, Rugby Canada, Rugby Ontario, Toronto Rugby, O’Grady’s, and Gilbert Rugby Canada, for standing with us and supporting our 2025 season.

Here’s to many more years of inclusive sport, fierce competition, and family on and off the pitch.
