This is a national showcase of multidisciplinary performances to learn about the experiences of Indigenous, Black, refugee and Deaf people, and people with disabilities. This event will offer the rare opportunity for individuals in Canada to understand the unique experiences of some of the most systemically marginalized people in our society, whose experiences and voices are often silenced.

The event will bring local representatives of Local Safety & Inclusion Solidarity Networks from across the country to Saint John, providing them the opportunity to observe and engage in conversations about diverse experiences and silenced voices. The aim of these local networks is to bring together community members and front-line workers who are from, and/or provide services to, Indigenous, Black, and other racialized groups, refugees, and/or people with intellectual, mental health and cognitive disabilities. The focus is on women and gender diverse peoples.

At this event you will hear from diverse speakers from each of these communities, learn about the community actions each local network has been working on and enjoy poetry and live music! Lunch will be provided!

We hope to see you at both events!

On National Truth and Reconciliation Day, we honour the children, families, and communities impacted by the painful history and ongoing impact of the genocide and attempt at cultural obliteration of the first peoples of this land now known as “Canada.”

Today, IRIS had the privilege of hosting Denia Anderson’s presentation: Insights from Maya Chacaby's Indigenous Trauma Informed Training.

Join IRIS on August 10th at 6pm EDT as the Sombra de la SCJN announces the book launch of Legal Capacity, Disability and Human Rights.

This international collection of essays on the right to legal capacity was co-edited by Dr. Nicolás Espejo Yaksic and our very own Dr. Michael Bach.

Hosted by the Human Rights Division, today it will be launched by the Supreme Court of Mexico.

This live stream will be hosted in Spanish, with simultaneous live interpretation to English.
