Atlatszo has published a detailed English feature documenting the deeply moving journey undertaken to honor the memory of my son, Benjamin "Nemo" Aser.

https://english.atlatszo.hu/2026/06/14/the-boy-i-raised-mourning-and-remembrance-of-benjamin-asher-in-ukraine/

This article faithfully captures the most profound moments: the military funeral in Kyiv, the moving tributes from his brothers-in-arms, and our return to Ukraine this past March—traveling from Chișinău through Odessa and Kyiv, all the way to Kharkiv. We want this story to reach the Ukrainian people, those standing with us in Canada, and the global public, ensuring that Nemo’s ultimate sacrifice is never forgotten. Please take a moment to read and share it. Heroes never die.

Last year, a Hungarian volunteer was killed near Kharkiv. We were there when the father traveled to Ukraine again to visit his son’s grave.

Running for remembrance, running for the future 🇺🇦🏃‍♂️
Last week, we had the honor of participating in the Second Wind charity run at High Park in Toronto. More than 90 people ran with us locally, and joining forces with nine other cities across Canada, the community raised over $17,000 to support the rehabilitation of wounded Ukrainian veterans through Друге дихання UA | Second Wind UA.
For the Nemo Memorial Run, this day held a deeply personal meaning. Benjamin’s little sister, Ziva, and I ran together, proudly carrying the flag of Ukraine—the very flag and the very land for whose defense her big brother, Benjamin "Nemo" Aser, made the ultimate sacrifice. Seeing his memory live on through the steps of his little sister is a powerful reminder of why we keep moving forward, why we never give up, and why we will never let our heroes be forgotten.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the organizers, the community, and everyone who showed up, ran, walked, or donated.
Special thanks to the partners who made this wonderful day possible:
2nd Front Ukraine Foundation
Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC)
Kazka Entertainment
And to all the volunteers, photographers, and videographers who captured these moments.
Our strength lies in the Ukrainian people. Together, we are unstoppable. 💙💛

In Remembrance and Gratitude: The Documentary About Benjamin Has Been Released.

Today marked the premiere of Atlatszo’s documentary, which chronicles the final days of Benjamin "Nemo" Aser, his brothers-in-arms, and the memorial services held in his honor in Ukraine.

This film is not only a memento of my own harrowing journey as a father, but also a pure reflection of the unbreakable bonds of brotherhood and self-sacrifice born on the front lines.

On behalf of the Benjamin Aser Memorial Foundation and myself personally, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the filmmakers, who approached this painful yet deeply uplifting story with incredible empathy, expertise, and profound respect:

József Makai, the film's editor and director, and
Attila Nuszbaum, the film's cinematographer and editor.

Our sincere thanks go to the entire editorial team at Atlatszo for providing the platform to present this story and for helping to preserve Nemo’s memory. The soldiers and warriors who speak in this film were not only Benjamin’s comrades—they are heroes to us all.

Heroes never die.

Supporting a Noble Cause through Personal Presence
On June 12th, the father of Benjamin Aser (Nemo) attended the "Bandura on Bloor" charity concert at the Toronto Bandura Festival.

His attendance carried a deep purpose: he felt it was vital to be there in person to show his full support. The father deeply aligns with the goals and mission of Project Soniashnyk, the foundation supported by the concert's net proceeds.

This Canadian non-profit organization hosts Summer & Winter recreational rehabilitation camps in Ukraine for children whose parents are Active or Fallen Members of Ukraine’s Armed Forces. His presence was a meaningful statement of solidarity, shared values, and a commitment to helping these children heal.

Alongside the incredible Ukrainian cultural program and the masterful performances by the renowned bandura artists Julian Kytasty and Olha Petelko, this evening was a powerful demonstration of unity and support.

This uplifting community effort embodies the very spirit that guides Nemo’s memory and this foundational work.

Thank you to the organizers for a beautiful, impactful, and value-driven event!

In the East, near Kharkiv, Benjamin Aser 'Nemo' fell. The Ukrainian fighter, who was born in Hungary, was a soldier of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, but he had also served in the Revansh Battalion.

His father, Natan Aser, traveled from Canada to Kyiv to visit Benjamin's grave for the first time since the funeral. In memory of the boy, the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine planted a tree in Anatevka, a settlement built for Jewish refugees, and the museum studying World War II Ukrainian history organized an event and an exhibition. Natan Aser met with his son's friends and comrades-in-arms because he wants to know what happened in May 2025. Together, they remember Benjamin. Who remains twenty-one years old forever.

Today we are at High Park in Toronto with my daughter, Ziva, participating in the Second Wind Charity Run!

Together, Ziva and I are proudly holding the Ukrainian flag, alongside the official flag of the 3rd Assault Brigade.

By participating today, we want to express our steadfast solidarity with Ukraine and our deep alignment with the noble goals of the Second Wind Charity Run. This day is about the rehabilitation of wounded warriors, fresh starts, and healing—the very values Benjamin gave his life for.

Together, we are turning grief into strength and legacy. I want to teach Ziva that her brother, Benjamin (Nemo), was a true hero, and I want to introduce her to this community whose freedom comes before everything else.

With every single step we take, we honor Benjamin’s memory and the heroes of Ukraine. Thank you to the Toronto Ukrainian-Canadian community for your continuous support! 🇨🇦🇺🇦

🇺🇦 We Are Not Stopping: The Journey Continues, Tomorrow We Run Together with Ziva!

As the opening event of the Nemo Memorial Run – Run for the Heroes initiative, I took on a deeply meaningful commitment as a father: on May 24th, I set off from the Consulate General of Ukraine in Toronto to run solo all the way to the Ukrainian Embassy in Ottawa.

Yesterday, this fatherly dedication and deeply personal journey came to an end. I will share detailed updates and reflections with you soon, but one thing is already absolutely clear to me: our stand for Ukraine and our alignment with these vital causes must never stop. It is an ongoing struggle, and every single day we must fight for Ukraine’s freedom, for our principles, and for the goals that matter to our communities.

That is why tomorrow we are immediately joining the next incredibly important initiative: SECOND WIND CHARITY RUN / WALK 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Tomorrow, on Sunday, June 7th at 9:00 a.m., I will be running in High Park alongside Benjamin’s (Nemo’s) 7-year-old little sister, Ziva. We will be carrying the very same Ukrainian flag that I bore with me throughout my journey from Toronto to Ottawa—the flag with which I stopped every single morning at 9:00 a.m. for a minute of silence, joining all of you to honor the defenders, our heroes, the civilians, and the children who have fallen in the war for Ukraine's freedom.

Our stand this time will once again be for Ukraine, expressing our full solidarity with the goals of the Second Wind charity run. But as a father, I also have another vital mission: I want to show and teach Ziva the strength, the unbreakable unity, and the beauty of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

Join Us Tomorrow in Toronto!
Organized by the Second Front Ukraine Foundation, the Second Wind initiative supports the rehabilitation and recovery of Ukrainian Defence Forces veterans. This year, Toronto is proud to be one of 10 cities running together in unity to raise awareness about the ongoing war and to help raise funds for our defenders' recovery.

📅 Date: June 7, 2026 (Sunday)
🕘 Time: 9:00 a.m.
