I have many ideas that I would love to see come through for Digby, some small, some might seem to be a bit ambitious, but you never know until you try.
One of the things I would like to work on is Transit:
I have been promoting a new bus route now for a while. It seems a waste to have a bus that runs down Warwick Street and then turns around and comes back the same route when it could easily service a much larger portion of town. (See map) It would be nice if the residents of the now unserviced area of town could hop a bus to go shopping, banking or out for a bite. For the people who live outside of town, how about being able to access the school, sports fields, the arena complex or the eye doctor or other businesses which don’t happen to be on Warwick or the south half of Water Street? I feel we can make this possible with minimal cost, most of which would be for bus stops and signage. I have run the route multiple times while the bus runs the existing route and the time required is within seconds of the current time, even beating the bus a couple times. I have made sure that the company doing the study for Kings Transit is aware of the poor service in Digby and have been waiting along with everyone else for the report that was due in January of 2024 but for some reason is being withheld. When this review is finally published I will continue pushing for better transit.
