September is Su***de Awareness Month. 💜

This month is a reminder that mental health matters, conversations matter, and checking in on one another matters.

You never truly know what someone may be carrying behind a smile or what they may be going through in silence. A simple “How are you, really?” can remind someone that they are seen, heard, and not alone.

Let’s continue to break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a community where people feel safe asking for support and talking openly about their struggles.

Be kind. Listen without judgment. Check in on your family, friends, coworkers, and neighbours—not just today, but throughout the year.

Together, we can continue to raise awareness, encourage understanding, and remind one another that support and hope exist.

Yayyyy!!! I am being discharged today!!

It has been a very difficult 4 weeks, but I am feeling really good. I also know that my journey does not end here. In many ways, this feels like a new beginning. Healing takes time, and while I still have work to do, I am leaving with more strength, new tools, and hope for what’s ahead.

One thing I know for sure is that I could not have gotten through these past several weeks without the incredible support system around me. To everyone who has reached out, checked in, sent prayers, encouragement, love, and support — thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness has carried me through some really difficult days and reminded me that I am never alone in this fight.

This is not the end of the journey — it is simply the start of a new chapter. One day at a time.

I have been quiet on here for a while, and I thought it was time to come on and update everyone.

A few months ago, I shared that Music for the Mind would be going on hiatus so I could focus on my own mental health and well-being. What I didn’t fully share at the time was just how much I was struggling.

Over the past four months, I found myself in one of the darkest and most difficult depressive episodes. It became a battle I could not pull myself out of on my own. As things continued to spiral near the end of April, I knew something had to change.

After a nearly three-hour psychiatric assessment, I received confirmation of diagnoses I was already aware of — Borderline Personality Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder — but I was also newly diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder.

Just days later, as my depression continued to worsen and for my own safety, I was admitted to the Inpatient Mental Health Unit on April 27th. Since then, my psychiatrist has been working to stabilize my mood and find the right medication balance. The nurses and staff on the unit have been great — showing compassion, kindness, patience, and commitment to keeping me safe and helping me heal during one of the hardest chapters of my life.

Mental illness is a beast. Some days, simply getting through the day felt like climbing a mountain. But through every hard moment, every setback, every day where I struggled to remember my own strength, one thing has remained constant: the people who loved and showed up for me.

To my family, friends, and support system —
you have been my light in some very dark moments. Love has showed up in so many different ways over the past 4 weeks— every call, text, message, visit, card, snack, word of encouragement meant more to me than words can possibly express.Thank you for reminding me that I am not fighting this battle alone.Thank you for helping carry the weight when it became too heavy for me to hold on my own. Thank you for reminding me that I am worthy, I am enough, I am loved, and that I still have purpose, even on the days I struggled to believe it myself.

This journey is far from over, and healing is not linear. There are still hard days, and there is still work to do. But I am fighting, every single day.

If there's one thing these experiences have continued to teach me, it’s this: no matter how dark things feel, you do not have to face it alone. Please reach out. Let people in. Let them love you through the hard moments.

To everyone who has stood beside me through this chapter of my life — I am endlessly grateful, and I truly would not be here without my tribe. Love you all so much!!!! 💚💚💚
